I work for a software company.
free software CAD or otherwise is worth what you paid for and the support you will get will be next to non-existant.
I use the hobby version of Alibre Design

Google SketchUp has a free version available online
Tools are a bit simple, but very easy to use. Great for 3D work. Tutorial videos online.
