I work for a software company.
free software CAD or otherwise is worth what you paid for and the support you will get will be next to non-existant.
I use the hobby version of Alibre Design

Google SketchUp has a free version available online
Tools are a bit simple, but very easy to use. Great for 3D work. Tutorial videos online.
List some pictures of the type of drawing you want to create and we can better recommend the correct software
