Default i/r systems

my 2 cents what about the h/l system by far the cheapes many of use that dont go to danville all the time dont see the reson to spend big buck one a i/r system that we might use once a year how ever if we do go some place like that we cant PLAY WITH THE BIG BOYS.as long as the tank can take and recive hits well run what you brung.i just cant see spending as much as a new tank on a control board. the h/l works just fine for us in the back yard.. may be the maco unite will work ? and oooo 9sec for a reload youve got to be kidding you could reload a 16 in. navel gun that fast or dam close.

Not sure where you are comming from.....that new card does not really meet the standards that have been set by the people that run the events. It would not be fair for other people that bought the correct systems to be at a disadvantage to someone that that does not want to buy the correct system. but thats jmo....

There are plenty Of ways to get your HL up to spec to battle with the clubs using Tamiya spec. If you don't want to form out for them then don't play. There's a new board coming from auz that may well add the Tamiya battle functions to an rx 18 equipped tank for less than the current systems. You have to accept though that this isn't a cheap hobby, and like any hobby if you want to play with the. Of boys be prepared to pay!

lol.......I'm comming from building trackday hondas......rc tanks are a cheep hobby....

The trick is to plan yourbuild......and if you would like to ir battle, just plan on the dbc price in your build. If you are really slick, you buy a bunch of extra apple mounts,ir lights, and install some connectors.....then you couldrun thesame dbu ina couple tanks.......

There are a few of us at Danville that are already using 1 TBU in multiple tanks. No reason not to if it is saving you the money and you don't feel that you have to have one for each tank you own. Don't get me wrong either, there are a lot of guys who have one for each tank they own also. Your tank, your choice. Just follow the rules as posted.

The reload times are actually fairly fast considering the manual loading nature of WWII tanks.

For example, the real Leopard 2 has a reload time and fire from its semi-auto loader of 6 seconds.

Expense is always going to be a factor in every sport or hobby one chooses. A Tamiya base only costs around $30.00, then maybe borrowing an Apple to then compete with. But with a HL tank, they just didn't plan for it to be flexible even though the Tamiya system was first and has an established following.

I don't see why I should pay $4.00 a gallon for gas and live 13 hours away?

I've been looking at these units that are priced veryreasonably and yet might have enough features that the Tamiya guys might find adequate. like you I get frustrated at the prices on IR gear and not having anyone local to IR with it seems like a waste of money(for me). However I do have a lot of friends here and I might actually get off my butt a couple times year and get up to New Jersey or Danville and do some battling. So on my Panther II build I decided to set it up for battling. My problem is I'm big on sound effects, but in order to get them then you have to buy 90% of a high-end battle system, so if your gonna do that you might as well go all the way..

p.s. "tank jerk" and "super spin" arespawns of satan!...

You want to battle in your backyard with HL IR or Airsoft, feel free. No one is twisting your arm to go to Danville or the other battle sites. I can never see Danville allowing airsoft tanks to battle on their field. The BB's are a mess. Maybe an IR battle using HL IR Tanks. Remember Tamiya was the first in the game. I still cannot figure out why when HL made the decision to install IR in their tanks, they didn't use the established standard.I have converted a couple of HLs using El mod and Daves Battle Circuit. You can do a DBCmod relatively inexpensively.

I am sure two piece loads take a bit longer

I agree...I would love to do more IR, I just live too far away from anywhere to do it on a regular basis. What would be nice is if HL were to maybe join forces with ELMOD,DBC,etc. to offer a premium "Tamiya comapatible" HL battle system...even if itjust had the basic battle functions we all want......I'd buy it lol...

hmmmmm.......the rumors I heard was that they will have a 2.4ghz radio...nice, but not a huge selling point with me as I don't have interference problems with the stock systems.....guess we'll have to see what kind of options it will offer(hopefully upgraded sound effects)..
