HL KV-2 turret

RE: HL KV-2 turret
Thats very nice.....especially as the body for the tank can be had about 40 euro from the same place.
Good to see Heng Long + whoever was resposnible extending the range of affordable tanks.

I just noticed......is it a German turret? Given the cupola? I though the gun was supposed to be fdifferent?

Well, if you picked up a history book you would know that the reason it has a German Commanders Copula on that Soviet tank is that it's the captured version, called a GERMAN PANZERKAMPFWAGEN KV-2 754(r).

Well I suppose if you two managed to keep your supercilious attitudes in check for once in your lives......you might have interpreted the post in the way it was meant. An assertion that it was the german version with inclusion of the question to keep from appearing to be exactly what you two invariably come across as.
As for the gun....I'd swear I remember seeing a shot of a KV something or other with what looked like a german muzzle break on it.

Oh then, you must be talking about this version:
As far as my attitude, it's fine. If you have no humor then don't bother.

RE: HL KV-2 turret
IIRC Steve Zaloga mentions it in his KV book available from Osprey. I don't remember seeing a pic of it, but the artwork in the full-color center has a 75mm gun on the KV.
Oop, nvm. The artwork has two KV's with German cupolas (something the KV was SORELYlacking), but both are on KV-1 turrets. One of them has the Russian gun, the other has a German 75mm (and looks REALLYhot!).

RE: HL KV-2 turret
Interesting.....I would have been much more interested in a cheeper kv85 kit.....or cheeper is2 kit...or a kv1s kit ....or a hull and turret for a is3 kit.......why not thekv220?............I just do not care for the kv2, it looks kinda silly imo.

RE: HL KV-2 turret
Looking at the rest of the pics in the link, it appears to have an asiatam recoil/elevation mechanism inside it, so its probably not a HL factory edition.
Custom build using a Juckenburg turret and a HL base..?

As for the other gun, maybe you are thinking of the KV-1 that was captured and had the PiV main gun installed on it.

Yeah, I bet that was it.

You may like to remove that particular RC Tank De link as it includes user ROBERT WHALLEY account details in code [X(]
If I can access this account then anyone else can too as tempting as it maybe

RE: HL KV-2 turret
I still have trouble getting my head round the mentality that when some one releases something new (and more importantly in this case filling somewhat of a niche) that people immediately say why havnt they done xyz that I like rather than this. I understand in cases where something that is ready avalible is done but not this....

RE: HL KV-2 turret
Compared to the complaints being made about the resin Stug kit elsewhere...this seems like a bit of a gift.
Looks reasonable, comes in airsoft and ir options, and seem to fit seamlessly with a standard tank body that is readily available for a miniumum of work and a reaonable price at least compared to various offerings from Juckenberg and is available from a highly reliable vendor.
I dont know whats not to like about it.
As to people looking for less known models and sub variants.....styrene is cheap and they cannot be that hard to build?

RE: HL KV-2 turret
If I only had another KV tank I'd get this. Call me weird but I've always liked the KV-2 turret and a Tamiya kit isn't in the plans anytime soon.

RE: HL KV-2 turret
2nd SS Panzer had a captured KV-2 that they welded a panzer III cupola too - Juckenburg offers a kit for this turret + the rocket launcher racks
Joe, I took another look - you're right, this looks too good of a fit to be a hack job using one of his turrets
It Looks good whatever it is, there was a rumour that HL had one in the works a couple of years ago, maybe asiatam took it on in the same way that they did the Stug IV?

RE: HL KV-2 turret
So the stug iv was originally developed by henglong? I'm suprised they havnt done a kv2 yet as tooling for a new turret has gotta be less than a whole new tank!
