Default VSTANK issue

My nephew has an Abrams A1 tank that isn't working. I have checked and we get voltage to the mainboard in the tank hull. When you turn the tank on I can hear a bit of sound from the speaker but nothing else. The remote control powers on but nothing on the tank works.

I bought a book on VSTank maintenance and repair and have to say it is pretty much useless and a waste of money.

Any help would be apreciated , it is a little over a year old and was fairly expensive to buy.

I didn't realize there was a maintenance & repair book on the VSTank ... wow

I realize you have had the tank for a year & have had it opened up, so I know it's not like you are unfamiliar with it & might have already tried these suggestions, but still, let's go over the easy basics of what could be wrong anyway since we should get them out of the way first before members try suggesting possible other fixes which may be more extreme:

1) Try different sets of batteries in the tank, & make sure all the batteries are adjusted properly & tightly in contact with the battery compartment pins. If you are currently using rechargeable batteries, switch out for some different ones & also try a set of alkaline batteries instead.

I can tell you from experience owning 6 VSTank Pro IR tanks for over 4+ years, the battery compartments on them when placing batteries in them can be very picky. Many times I've had just one poor battery out of the 8 & the tank just didn't want to operate correctly, while other times the batteries were actually fine & all I had to do was push them around & re-seat all the batteries to make sure every one of them was centered & making good contact with the battery case pins. I also had a more difficult time with this type of non-response issue using my rechargeable batteries than I had using regular alkaline, as they always seemed to fit better when inserted.

2) Also try cleaning all the battery contact pins in the tank's battery case too if there seems to be any dullness or foreign buildup on them.

3) Just in case you didn't know, the remote's crystal is in an obvious place under the small numbered disk in the front of the remote which can be easily lifted up & out, while the tank's crystal will be in the right underneath side of the turret itself. Pull out both the remote's radio crystal & the tank's radio crystal & then reinsert them again to make sure they are firmly seated into their sockets.

If it is not as simple as one of those three steps, at least we can rule them out, then hopefully another member may be able to offer some more advanced ways to test your tank to troubleshoot your issue.
