RC Sci-Fi tank battles??
#1
Just wondering if there's ever been any interest ina Sci-Ficlass oftank IR battling. With so much WW2 stuff, would be kinda refreshing to go over the top doing something different. And that would allow guys to let their minds wander(design/camoflage/etc). With kits like the M41 and Pantiger there's a good base to go from as they are cheap and easy to come by(maybe that could be a rule), as well as parts from just about any other tank...as I'm still debating on my next build this kind of sparked my imagination as I love "what-if's".... Just curious???

cool....just think it would be neat to see all the different designs guys would come up with...nothing to rediculous like hover-tanks or anything, but tracked tanks that look like 50-100 years in the future...

you know what we could do instead of sci-fi style tanks is go with a 1946- ? series of tanks...still ww2 technology but more advanced/modified..I've had my mind on a KV-2 for sometime but maybe an upgunned version with two guns in the turret, muzzle breaks(like on an SU-152),and some additional side armor platingor something like that...that would still be somewhat plausible..even if it is just for fun.....call it a "KV-100"

I have a spare tiger, maybe I will think of something for that. Still go stealth with it, but have the German eagle on it for markings. And have the brake like the Barrett m107

You would need a 20 channel controller to battle with it. That and a team of guys to toggle the sticks.

I have the kit of the last pic in your original post. (the type 61 from Gundam) It's a pretty big tank for 1/35, it could probably fit some electronics... I can't remember if it's got workable suspension or not..

It seems every tank forum brings up the Behemoth on different occasions over the years, but how many modelers have ever actually built one?
Way back in (I think) 1997, a modeler by the name of Brian Fowler built one out of several kits & a lot of scratch built parts (full original here)

"Building the Model
Here are components for the KV-VI:
2 X Tamiya KV-II
2 X Tamiya KV-IE
AER T-38
Italeri BT-5
Italeri Katyusha
Zvezda T-60
DML IS-II tracks
I cut and "welded" three KV hulls and repositioned two center return rollers. I widened one of KV-II turrets and added a second 152mm gun, the pedestal for main turret is shaving cream can lid. Additional MG bustles are recast from originals in resin. The T-60 and T-38 turrets were recast from originals, while the flamethrowers and turrets are scratchbuilt. The AA DT machine gun and mount are from Model Kasten and the twin DsHK machine guns are from Verlinden. The model was painted with Polly Scale and markings are from MB models and Verlinden."
