just to let you all now about a new board on the market

its plug and play just remove the RX18 add your aftermarket Receiver/Transmitter and a few mods and your set to go

ive just got me one and the sounds are 100% better than H/long
sounds are set to the board for the moment
tamiya recoil mechanism can be added and also servo style re-coil
the battle system mimics Tamiya's also the nasty H/long recoil is gone

no other board is needed although a Tamiya battle apple is
and also a better speaker is required instead of the H/long one

he also does a H/long version which keeps the airsoft system if required

oops forgot to mention it will also support 2.4ghz as well

That is all good info, but how much. This seems in direct competition with an SLU so I would like to see a cost comparison.

This very exciting news, but after looking at the instructions, for converting your HL tank to this new Clark system, it is not really plug and play. One still needs to disconnect several wires from there connectors and solder and or connect these wires to new connectors. Also have to build your own Tamiya Apple plug. This may be a simple task for some but not all. Still it is great to have another compatible control system that may work with Tamiya. Would be nice to know the price of the unit as well.

I fully agree. It'll be 'run or get out of the way' as things get decoded and cheaper. With the wealth of info at our fingertips, opportunities arise wherever there's a need.

If an electronically challenged dope like myself with a multi-meter can adapt existing boards to do different things, imagine what an electrical engineer could do. Or even just a hobbyist with the right gear.

I'm not in anyway putting Tamiya down by this, but they pretty much dictate the market as 'the standard' and RC tanks is a tiny tiny part of their picture. Tamiya-san is a great businessman, but a static modeler at heart.

I wish the RC tank hobby was driven by tank first interests, such as El Mod, that way we'd by leading with innovation, not just adaptation. In my mind, there's no reason why we shouldn't be battling with directional armor and damage, or repair tanks like the IBU offers. We don't because the Tamiya apple is what clubs want to see and adopt as 'the standard'.

the other plugs are fairly simple to modify and im sure if you are able to undo a H/long tank and re-install all the cables that usually break free from there pads then you should be able to do that also

im not an agent For clark but i love what the guy does and have been praying that he will get more involved in this 1/16th scale

i had a little in the development of it but that was just 6 months of e-mails and letting him know just what most of us really want

a system that is better than H/long sounds this is very close to Tamiya in the sound department and something clark specialises in

Tamiya battle system compatible now his boards are Tamiya and h/long battle system compatible

i havent gotten that far with mine yet as ive had other "honey-do-list commitments" to seriouslly sit down and play with it

I agree AVF432, there is a how-to, just not truly plug and play for the entry level tanker trying to get into this hobby for the first time. I am not knocking this product or trying to say this is a bad product. I think it is a great addition for those of us who have been doing this sort of conversion. The price sounds great as well. For just roughly $52 dollars U.S. one can have a Tamiya compatible HL tank. Very cool stuff !!!!

There are a lot of ready to fly and ready to run models out using 2.4 Ghz radios.  I don't understand why HL does not change their radios - or list an extra cost board to replace the 18 that would allow us to plug in 2.4 Ghz sport radios.  I would gladly spend $40 + dollars to outfit each of my HLs even without better sound.  The Clark system sounds interesting.  Hope someone imports them in to North America. jot from the stepps of Wyoming with battlefield smoke available statewide.     

Heng Long is redoing their radios. We may find something like this will be offered in a stock Heng Long.

I was told that the upcoming 2.4 ghz kits won't come from HL inside their tanks, but will be available as aftermarket kits to replace the RX18, more or less as Clark's offer.

An explosion of electonic upgrades on the market for HL tanks. We will have a wide varity of choices now. El Mod, Benedini and Beier are still the only ones offering programmablae sounds, but it looks like Clark has a system on the drawing board that will use programmable wav files as well.

I wonder if Heng Long ever imagined that their Toy tanks would spur such an aftermarket of upgrade parts. First it was better mechanical parts, and now electronic parts.

Now if only Tristar, Eduard or even DML would see an opening for more 1/16 static offerings. I'm really surprised we haven't seen a 35t chassis. Think of all the kits that could be built off that hull: Marders, Hetzers...

Or the Pz I and Pz II.

the next round will surprise the lot of you guys.

so lets see we have true plug and play all the way to complete swap outs. The electronics are improving and we are not stuck using tamiya any more.

wonder what is going to be next hmmm what do yall think? New programming? New Tanks? New extras for sale?

All this and the price is moving down, not up. Wonder how long that can last??

I agree it's going to be run with the big dogs or stay on the porch. This is why it took me awhile to decide on an electronics package for the sherman, a lot of decisions and most if not all are top of the line. This is getting good.
