Got the Recoil mechanism all worked out, and here are a few pictures showing the LED lighting that was added as well.

I needed the low profile of the Tamiya recoil unit in the Leo 2, so I bought a couple , and am utilizing one in this build as well.
Hand is OK, pretty sore, but Like Jeff said, good thing I wasn't using my lap!!!!!

I bet that statement about using your lap had every guy here cringing!
Man, that turret keeps getting more and more good looking and tempting too. Maybe once I get off the Sherman (and T34) kick I'll get one.
By then I bet they'll stop offering it!
Glad the hand is doing well.

Moving slowly along. Got all the mechanical electrical work done. Now I am focusing on the resin turret. This kit is a lot of work, but it has all you need, just not as simple as working with a styrene kit
I will be scratch building a Canadian rear bussle for this to better represent the Leo the Canadians had in 2006. First the C2, then the Mexas add on armor

Added the rear tool boxes' and have the main assembly ready for primer.
Next up will be hinge details and handles.
The mantlet weather cover is a Vinyl glove painted. I still need to add all the fastener details

I got it primed and a base coat of gloss green down. Applied some decals, and added hinge and latch detail on the turret hatches. It is starting to come together

More progress shots.
The basic tank is done, now comes the fun part, that really never gets finished, adding all the details

Yes I bought the turret from a shop in Canada. Yes I had to think twice about this before I purchased it, but relaized the time it would save me. It is not the greatest casting in the world, (Got spoiled by Proline) but it cleans up good. All the additional rear tool boxes etc were sratch built for this modernized Canadian version. The kit comes with a smaller bussle box and is the weakest casting of the kit.
I will post some video of it later today. The thing is very heavy as the resin casting is a heavy part. I think I need to upgrade the motors. Not sure how well You tube will capture the bass, but this guy really rumbles. I added a Benedini amp which really seems to improve the bass response.
Lots of details left to put on. Tools, gear etc. It was cool adding a thermos cooler. Haven't had to do that on a tank model before. I was going to do some Mexas armour, but I kind of like the look of this edition. I may hold off on the Mexas.

Thanks for the comments guys. I spent today adding some more details, Pictures will follow, but I focused on getting this video done. I was hoping to do it outside, but it was way to windy today, so the video was shot in my workshop. This demonstrates the Benedini and the Leopard C2 sound set I have been working on. It really rumbles live, and transposed not too bad on the video.

Great looking tank Dan.
Every time I read one of your build threads it always gives me some inspiration to head to the workbench [8D]. But so far this nice warm summer has had me out on my mountain bike most days so once we start cooling off it will be time to work on the tanks.

Opened the hatch showing the TBU connection.. I fashioned this out of styrene and lego. I finally made a mold, so now I can cast these.

Great build Dan. I may have missed it, but did you check and see if the elevation works using a rx spare channel without the sounds of the guns going off? Love the bumper sticker also, still waiting to see a moose in the wild....plenty of trips to Maine but haven't seen any yet.
Cheers,
Wade

It is not as simple as using the servo to control the elevation with the DBC. You would have to map it to a stick that didn't want to return to center, so that when you moved it up it would stay up. You would then have to map the cannon sound somewhere else.
I have talked to David and the DBC3 could be reprogrammed to work like this, but then it would not be plug and play with the HL so it is not as easy as one would think. I personally don't mind the cycle elevation on the gun barrel. Typically in IR fights the elevation is not that big of an issue. One of the selling features of this DBC is that it is plug and play with no mods to the Heng long system, so I don't want to lose that.
