My version of the Stug III
Well I have been busy here latley with getting my Stug III where I want it. I am not done with it yet, but it is operational and the cosmetic changes have been done. I cleaned up the interior and have plans on putting swing and recoil on the cannon. Just havn't done it yet. I am also thinking of putting in 480 motors since the stock ones seem a bit on the slow side. Upper hull now attaches with magnets instead of screws and so do the schurtzen I fabricated. The paint job took me three days to complete by the way. Made my own decals for the name and numbers too.

I absolutely love it. The colour is striking but not in an over the top way. The gradual blending of the 3 main shades with the dots looks fantastic.
High fives. Also I may copy your magnet-schurtzen idea

Anyone can copy my ideas posted here. I learned a long time ago that ideas need to be shared or they don't do much good.

From what I recall this is an ambush pattern, right? Did you take a specific historical scheme or was it done free-hand?

Herman, your StuG looks so cool. The camo scheme is great.

@ Strato50 To me the paint is more SS dot uniform than Ambush. The Amush has fewer dots over a larger area as opposed to the clustered dots. This is cool too since these were often attached to the infantry company rather than the armor sections.
Looks great.
Herman, you work fast. It was only a month ago you said "might" do a Stug. What did you make the skirtz from? I know @ Danville we talked about screens also.

RE: My version of the Stug III
The paint scheme was my free hand attempt to copy the SS dot uniform pattern on a larger scale. The background areas were painted first and then filled in and blended with the dots. Hence the tanks name, Frau Flecke or Mrs. Dot. I had looked at doing the screens, but did not find anything that really looked suitable to make them out of, so I went with the solid schurtzen instead. I made them out of sheet styrene and used magnets to attach them for easy access. This is still a work in progress and even though it is fully functioning I want to do some other things on the inside, like recoil and barrel shifting. I have some ideas rattling and rolling around in my head that still have to come to fruition. Wash of some kind will be next and maybe some foliage?

Really nice Herman! Is it battle ready? I want to shoot some holes in it next month.
Now I know what you have been up to lately. So how's the DD Sherman coming along?

RE: My version of the Stug III
I ran into a mental block with the DD and letting it sit for a bit. I will get back to it in awhile. You and a bunch of other guys!

Yeah, I know how that can go. Been there myself a few times too.
Anyhow, the StuG really looks good!

Looks gret Herman. I can't wait to fight along side of it next month. I will have my Stug III there and hope to have my Jagdpanzer IV there too. Although neither look as nice as your's....LOL. Beautiful work as always.

RE: My version of the Stug III
Thanks for the kind reviews folks. Thinking of how to make a drop in unit for recoil, swing, and greater depression/elevation for it now. Still, thinking has a tendency to get me in trouble for some reason.

RE: My version of the Stug III
I have done a bit more work on the StuG since the battle days at Danville. I have added the second green to the camoflauge and opened up the engine air intake boxes and put the baffles and screen in them.
