I have a little project i have been planning and i need some info on multi motor speed controllers. I will need to run 2 drive motors and a steering motor.
Would i need to have a speed controller for each motor? Can i use one spee controller for the drives and a second for the steering?
i'm sure I would since steering would be on a seperate channel. Most likely only 3 channels will be needed. I don't have much expierience out side of the simple electronics we use in these tanks of ours.
can anyone lend me a hand with some info?<br type="_moz" />

Hi Gregg,
You can get one controller (ESC) for dual motors. Like the DMD T-01, but it depends on the amps you need to draw. All dual motor ESC will require two channels. The other ESC will control your steering motor. Beware what you buy for steering ESC motor control. Some have a safety that prevents going from forward to reverse in one motion of the stick to avoid TU /motor damage.

FYI, I bought Manheaders dual motor ESC and it was junk. He was not helpful either.

Here is a link to some speed controllers that will save you money. no need to use a Tamiya unit that will take you broke.</p>

After taking a look at some parts and such that i already have I will just need to run one motor for drive and a second for steering. the steering will need to be a drive motor, a miniature geared motor actually as it is for an articulated type vehicle steering set up.<div>So from the info you guy's have given me i believe i have it worked out. Lets just see if i can put it into practice. thanks guys.</div>

I have some Tamiya LT1 axles and a gear box and trans case i'm going to borrow from another project, plus i have dual 540 gear box mount i may try.<div>As I said this is for an articulated steering vehicle so it should be interesting. Only 2 front wheels will drive. </div><div>I may or may not add a driven second section i don't know yet. it depends on how I can work out how to steer it also.</div><div>I'll keep you guys posted. I have to get my Photobucket account cleaned up to post pictures. Way to many duplicates and it used up all my space so with out getting a paid account , that's what i'll need to do first. </div><div>And thanks Bob. i will give you a call soon anyway. I really want to pick a fight some time soon. LOL.</div>
