Dan,

Is the loaders gun shield fold-able? Can you have it up or down as you choose?

Hi Herman

Yes the gun shield is hinged and folds down flat to get out of the way when the apple is installed.

Looks like another modification to my StuG is going to be happening soon.

So is the LED in the Notek light on the Front? Very cool if they did that.

Yes there is a light in there, but I smoked it. I am not sure what voltage rating it has. I only put 3 volts to it but it was enough to burn it out. Guessing it must be 1.5 Volts.

I think they could sell quite a few more if they offered one or more drop in electronic packages for those of us who are electron challenged. I have seen that electron genie escape from it's magic box several times while trying to fix different things. Good instructions in each market's language would sure help with customer success and lead to more sales. Still thinking about getting one to pair with my HL version. jot

I am happy with the 5 mm LED's I used in the notek light in the front and the convoy light in the back on mine. Stepping down the power to them is a MUST.

Have been drooling of the all metal Stug for a while now and close to pressing "Buy".

I am thinking about the electronics and was interested in your opinions. I may be able to pick up the DMD/MFU unit from a Tamiya Pz IV for a reasonable price and am wondering how easy it would be to fit this? Obviously I will not need to worry about the turret rotation but want to be sure that I can get the elevator / recoil functions working properly.

Does anybody have any experience of fitting non-HL electrics into these tanks?

I have a StuG with Tamyia electronics, but it is a plastic HL one. Everything fits once you play with it a bit.

Herman's right, the layout in each tank is different anyway. Once you eliminate the battery box and seal up the bottom there's room for almost anything.

I have them in a WSN T34, a HL KV, and will have shortly in the HL Sherman and Panther too.

This tank has no battery box so there is nothing to work around. You pretty much have a hollow box to fit in what ever you like.

Did you ever decide if you will paint it or not?

This all sounds pretty easy so far.

Does anybody know which elevator / recoil units fit in best? Pz iv ones?

I know Dan. Otherwise it wouldn't have the torsion bar suspension.

That's why I said that "the layout in each tank is different anyway" as I was not referring directly at the metal Stug.

I use a modified Heng Long gun for recoil.

This unit is not yet painted, and I am not sure if I will ever paint it.

I know, I would be torn between painting it and leaving it all natural metal. The only thing that would possibly push me to paint it is the real metal shining through on the scratches, scraps, and weathering.
