Default Tamiya KT electronics help

Hello All,

I have been facing the problem of setting up dmd t03 unit for my KT.

The problem is two orange leds on dmd unit keep flashing and no sound comes from the speaker. There was no problem last week!!!!

I checked the manual and it says that the problem could be either the receiver or the transmitter. I did try to reset the dmd unit twice and the problem still exists. Then, i used different batteries and there was no impact. there is a solid green light on my receiver so I assume it has been linked to the transmitter. I also did MF unit self-test and it is okay with no problem. I swapped the receiver with my leopard which was working properly.

it seems that the individual parts are working fine but problem is coming when they are assembled.

I am using Futaba 6j and r2006gs receiver.

If anyone has any experience, I appreciate it.

Thank you,

Rock

Make sure the comm cable between the DMD and MF is plugged in all the way.

Re-bind the receiver and radio. Then reset all settings on the radio. Then do a reset procedure with the radio and tank (moving both sticks up/down, left/right). See if that helps.

I did erase the radio setting and the problem still exists. However, I don't know how to re-bind the receiver and radio. I followed the binding procedure described in the manual but the LED on the receiver was showing red¬¬¬. Then, I had to switch off and on again and the LED became solid green.

Thanks.

I did binding before. am I able to bind it again since they have been linked?

I did try to re-link it again but only red light shown on the receiver. I restarted the receiver and it showed solid green.. I think the linking between the receiver and the radio should be okay.

Before you check anything below...check that you have a fully charged battery in the tank and the transmitter.

Orange flashing lights on the DMD indicate the DMD senses no radio signal. That can be the transmitter (tx), receiver (rx), DMD wire leads, or an internal fault with the DMD.

Check the easiest things first. Isolate your tx and rx. Take a 4.8v battery and a spare servo. Plug the battery into the batt. terminal on the rx, and plug the servo into any channel. Turn the tx on, and then test each channel's operation with your servo. If all work, remove the battery and servo from the rx, and reconnect the rx to the DMD rx leads.

Next, check the DMD rx leads. Look for any problems with the DMD rx lead wires, (broken wires, broken plugs, wires pulled out of plugs, or cuts in the wire). Check the plug orientation on the DMD rx leads (the direction the DMD lead plugs are plugged into your rx) where they plug into the rx. Sometimes they get plugged in 180 degrees backwards.

Lastly, check the DMD's operation. The only simple way to check a DMD problem like this is to swap it out for another you have that you know works.

The communication cable and the MF shouldn't matter, as the DMD will run the tank all by itself.

Hi Jeff,
I did follow all your suggestions and eventually I found the problem.

The problem was the channel 2 cable which was plugged 180 o wrong way round.

I didnt realise it at the beginning as it has been done quite long time. I just spotted it out when I was checking the cable colour. Channel 1, 3 and had the same colour order but channel 2. I tried to rotate it 180 and suddenly the sound came out.

I attached a picture of the wrong plugs and you can see the channel 2 was wrong direction.

Thank you,

Rock

That's weird... how did you do that? Most of those are "keyed" so that it's impossible to install wrong.

I always go by color as I am plugging them in.

He must have cut off the stock radio tabs from the Tamiya DMD for a non Futaba receiver radio system. That is one of the reason I am a diehard Futaba guy. It is fool-proof (no offense intended). I am glad to hear that you found that damned Gremlin. All the answers given were pointing in the right direction.

The KT is a second hand which bought from previous owner who used non futaba receiver. I asked him and he said he did cut the socket so that I couldn't find the correct direction.

Now, there is no problem of using radio.

Thank you so much for your guys help.
