Well, they were sold a little before your time at local Walmart stores. The first batch had several defects and the whole thing lost momentom from that point on, even after fixes were made, Walmart was selling them at ridiculous reduced prices. This was the start of the end of 21st Century Toys.

Steve,

I've owned two of those 1/9 Abrams tanks. Both second hand, and both missing the outward half of the barrel. I fixed them both on the cheap by using some Milliput putty, and some 1/2 Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) pipe obtained from my local DIY store. The pipe fit perfectly into the turret barrel socket. I used the putty to mold the bore evacuator on to the pipe. After a bit of paint, it was passable as a real one and cheap (all stuff under $5.00(US)).

If nobody sells any, I suggest you go to your local DIY and test fit some small bits of pipe into the turret and consider some putty sculpting. It worked for me.

I bit of putty, a bit of paint, makes it look like what it ain't....
