M1 Project
After long time I finally completed modding my Heng Long Tiger and I can start working on the Abrams project.
Tank is an M1A2 Abrams by Hobby Engine in 1:16 scale, a so toyfull model with cheap electronic and mechanics.
Anyway the external of tank is realistic enought (expecially the desert storm version wich includes many detailed equipments).
I've disassembled about 70% of tank and I am actually working to modify the lower chassis of the tank and the wheels.
I bought leo2 tamiya tracks and Heng Long metal gearboxes with standard reduction, new 480 motors and few other parts.
Upper part of the tank: old electonic and mechanics had been removed.
Lower chassis with original plastic suspensions.
On first time I thought to replace whole suspension system and rebuilding whole chassis in metal but I choose to keep original and reinforce the more stressed parts.
Space between wheels is too much so I had to cut off part of the wheels inorder to fit leo2 tracks without moving inside.
Merged parts are now closer together and works well with the tracks.

The tank just opened:
Original electronics:
Original motors and plastic gerboxes:
Inside the turret: original recoils system and gun elevation.
Upper part removed:
The lower chassis before working on: upper view
The lower chassis before working on: lower view
The lower chassis after working on: old supports had been removed
All gearboxes supports now removed to make a planar surface:
