Default slu help requested

hey people, decided to build again as I have not built a tank for years or so. This is an old Sturm iv project and my designated control was the SLU. Not having a lot of luck so are there any SLU experts around? fireman tim's old web site is non functional and i need some coaching.
i purchased 3 of these several years ago and finally got around to trying to install one. i have limited functionality including motor start sounds, songs, turret and elevation noises, cannon sound and flash, plus the function / status leds seem to be in concert with my controller movements but i have no motor functions. the instructions are clear enough to check wiring but the combinations of stick movements don't jibe with what should be happening. There is limited discussion or instruction for the ESC portion of this package and that seems to be where my problem(s) lie. Any input would be helpful. I have not seen any discussion or sales pitched for these lately so maybe these are **** and i did not get the memo. Chime in if you have something. thanks

i know when i had my Turnigy 9 hooked up i had the channels into the receiver as what is it that is not working

1 was ch 4
2 was ch 3
3 was ch 2
4 was ch 1

throttle was on the left stick
everything else was the right
machine gun was down to bottom and to the left starting was bottom right
firing main gun was straight up
left and right turret was centre left to right

light was just above machine gun across from that was music anthem
above the turret left and right was elevation up and down

If you reread my original post i have everything as far as sounds, and muzzle flash ---------- ""No MOTORS"". I just tried your suggestion on the receiver hookup I like it but still no moving motors thanks for your input, but i need to find how to test the components on the esc. i get all the led status lights on the esc when i make inputs but no power to motors, none of them. i have another SLU kit so I think I am going to switch escs and see what happens. I may have shorted my esc but i smell nothing nor see any blown out transistors or other components.

Hi You will need to have engine sounds before the motors will drive, need to start the engine ,Depends on how you have the sticks setup (I used to set mine up like a Heng Long. If you have yours set like the manual need to see how to start the engine.(if you fire the gun the motors will twitch.)You have it wired right, Make sure you have a jumper in the bottom row near the receiver connections.(I think its J4 long time no play with SLU)

regards pete
