Would this be HL's next release?

A guy posted these pictures on the Chinese RC forum "5imx":

He mentioned that this is going to be the next release of an un-named RC tank maker.
The new RC tank looks like a T-90A. Would this be Heng Long's next release?
Comparing to the just-released HL M1A2, details of the lower hull are quite good (though I'm not sure about the authenticity).

Those are HL's markings on the lower hull. Would be nice to have an opponent for the Leopard and Abrams, other than the ZTZ. Too many molded on bits, though. Need to go back to having spare track links, etc be something that is added by the buyer.

Yes a T90 would make my day. i tell you it would bring much needed younger blood into the hobby. The younger guys need models they can relate to also. I love modern armor. Still dig my WWII tanks but there is so much cool tech that can be done with modern armor. Higher speeds, faster turret rotation and traverse. Gun stabilization just to name a few oh and awesome engine sounds. You can even pit smokers in the russian modern tanks and still have realism. not so much for an Abrams but the Chally has a huge diesel engine as do all the Russian tanks. Modern Diesels sound amazing.

The T-90 is a modernized T-72 so you could probably backdate it? Maybe this tank and the a-part-an-issue magazine T-72 in Russia have the same origins. Looks like Heng Long is really stepping up their game - perhaps the ZTZ-99/A sold well enough for them to get into modern tanks in a big way, first the Leopard, then the Abrams then the Challenger 2 and now a T-90? I'm excited - sign me up for one.

Yeah a 90 would be cool because you could always do a little retro work and take it back to a 72. Then the new Abrams could be swapped back and forth from an A1 to an A2 easily enough to have the updated variants.
Along with the Abrams i have been asking for a 72 for a few years now. Glad to see the manufacturers making some updated armor.

A 1/16 T-72 is also due coming next year by DeAgostini. It will be sold in parts through weekly issues as foretold some time ago from our soviet fellow tankers, and its like a 'premium HL' level of quality.
So the lack of proper targets for Leos and Abrams will be soon filled.

A T-72 would be FANTASTIC, but if it would even be available in the U.S....has me doubtful...

Someone Here, (Hal Husker, Maybe) mentioned earlier this year, that a DeAgostini 1/16 Scale T-72 parts kit was to tried in Russia. Have you gotten any word that the T72 will be released in Italy?
At any rate, DeAgostini "Regional Kits" are Difficult and EXPENSIVE to obtain from Overseas. I Know. I tried with DeAgostini's Robi Robot Kit and Gave Up after issue #9. (The Good News IS, DeAgostini USA Plans to Release the Robi kit in America maybe in 2015, or so They tell me!)
That Hen Long(?) T-90/T-72 "Mystery Tank" Is Probably the Best bet for Those wishing for a more Modern Russian Tank.
Though I'm STILL Not Holding My Breath......,

The T-72 should be released in Italy and other European countries: the company in charge of the whole release project is Italian, production is Chinese.
Some members from the 2 most known italian rc-tank clubs (CarriRC and RcTank.it, recently twinned and sharing a common covered and fixed battlefied not far from Milan) have been contacted for testing the prototype and giving some suggestions and help to finalize the release. I had the chance to put hands on and drive the first assembled prototype a couple of months ago, as well as seeing its interiors.
Unfortunately I cannot share pics nor videos until after the release, but I can say that the prototype shared several parts with heng long tanks (metal gearboxes, smoke machine, barrel recoil and elevation, turret rotation) but not the electronics, which is proprietary and has custom (not too bad) sounds with engine startup, track squeaks, etc..The prototype had a proprietary IR system with a single receiver hidden in one of the turret aiming devices, and IR shooting led in the mantlet just over the barrel (IR code should not be compatible with anything, but didn't test it, and this might be subject to change before release, as well as the whole electronics).
Tracks are metal, as well as sprocket and idler.
I quite liked the overall model, a detailed replica of a T-72 M1, and from a modeller's point of view further improvements and detailing will be easy to achieve.
If the model will not be sold overseas, I suggest to wait until the whole release ends: after that usually it is possible to buy the whole collection (or the assembled model) on E-bay, thus paying for the delivery just once. And lets hope in the meanwhle they will finally give birth to the no-tax area between Europe and NA.

That is a wonderful news that the European release is confirmed.
If it were not available overseas, do not worry, I am sure there will be plenty of solutions to get it. A forum is also a place to find help from foreign friends ;-)

I'm always pestering bossman for another Russian tank. I like the T-72 myself.
