Default It was a dare.... M113a2 full option

CountChocula from the DAK crowd is a twisted individual. He prefers scratch builds of eclectic vehicles and really small stuff. The SDKFZ 250, FT 17 and Rolls Royce Armored Car....etc

So the other day he trots out one of his overstock and gave me a 21st Century Toys RC M113 and talked about how cool it would be to get some modern armor going...

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

Gear box STOCK
Speaker STOCK
Tracks Stock
Parts Box raided for Tamiya Sherman Guts.
Deans Plugs to rewire MFU DMD and GEAR BOXES.

I did break down and buy a LiPo battery to fit.
My First....

1/18 Initial plan is regular APC or even a Bandaid. We discussed the idea of having it "heal" killed tanks during a battle. Obviously set to light.....

I found a Dragon in my 1/18 toy stash. Now for a M175 mount....

I know I'm Sick and Twisted...
But I've always Loved the M113.
Got to drive the 113 on a couple of occasions.
I had a lot of Fun with em.

Had my on the 1/16 All Metal 113 out of Germany for a while.
But it is Not Inecpensive...

Chunwai also has one...
But I like the one out of Germany Better.

Nice Work on yours.

We all know the realm of possibility with a main stream RC M113 kit. M901, ADATS, M163 vulcan, Fitter, M106, M1064, Bandaid, M577, ACAV. There are over 80,000 of the things around the world and modeling the Israeli versions alone would take years.

This is a true palette cleanser for me and a means of clearing some space in my parts boxes.
Sealed and removed Battery box. This one simple un screws!
Made a floor brace from styrene and screwed it in after leveling the hull.
I got the traverse working with a gear from an educational set and a HL traverse.

Buttoned up and a quick repaint with Tamiya Light Sand. Made some red crosses and used rubber cement to tack 'em on. A fun weekend project and now I can work on the scenario with my "rescue" track. If I need to, an emitter can be added to make it a scout.
