Default Mods to my Hetzer.

I have finally finished some modifications to my Hetzer. I had a pair of idlers made for bearings and modified a Henntec Tiger 1 idler adjuster to fit inside the hull. I also installed a set of the Taigen steel gearboxes with bearings and put 480 motors on them. Boy is it a smooth runner now! I didn't think it would make that much of a difference, but it did.

Hi Gary, If I had the capabilities to do video I would. Maybe someone will take some in September at Danville.

Or, you could send the Hetzer to me and I'll be happy to take all the videos you want.

He tried that with me too Herman, dont trust him Looks good btw, I'm glad you like the gearboxes, they really make a huge difference. I've yet to run but just a few upgraded motors, which ones are you using?

Hi Erik, Ya, I figured he would like to get his hands on it! I am using the Pro Max 480's in it. They have a bit more torque than the 400's and a little less speed. With only three hits, I really don't see a degradation of performance getting hits. I love the gearboxes smooth performance too. The only mod I had to do to the adjusters was to shorten the brass spacer tube to fit in the hull. Everything else was stock.

I have been running this around for a good while now and believe this is a great combination for the running gear. I only had one track try to jump the idler and that was because I was doing turns and doughnuts in 3" high grass. Cement, dirt, carpet are all OK with no problems.

Yes, it is quite snug, but everything does fit with a bit of finagling. I runs so much smoother with all the bearings in it it is almost like a new tank.

More and more as I use it and they wear in better. Really not to bad now at all. Still some though.

Glad you like them, I knew you would Just btw, my Hetzer sits on a shelf nice and pretty, I just recently showed it off to one of our tank pros (helps with design and such) and he loved it.

Erik, Erik, Erik. You have to get it running to really show it off! I am glad that it is appreciated though.

Nice. The bearinged up boxes are a very good upgrade. My Leo coasted down a steep incline with these as they are so freewheeling.
