New Tanks from IMEX/Taigen Coming Soon!

Depending on what you want to do it isn't that bad or expensive to get into. Keeping ur eyes peeled for good deals, parts and such goes a long way.
I would just about flip if a 'mainstream' manufacturer decided to offer a military subject in 1:10 scale but that is just a pipe dream.....

I should point out what a lot of people don't immediately realize.. there are MILLIONS of people heavily into games like World of Tanks and Armored Warfare that exclusively recreate tank warfare with varying degrees of accuracy.
The tank models themselves in-game are excellent & the designers invest a lot of care into proper dimensions, performance and handling of real world and paper tanks. Gun ballistics and engine performance are all represented.
I came into Rc tanks years ago having already been playing World of Tanks for a year or so... I knew what a KV-2 was, the Porshe Tiger, and more recently the British and Japanese tanks.... all from the game. I knew their engines and gun sizes and relative performance pros and cons.
If Rc tanking as a hobby is riding a wave of popularity on it's own you can sure bet that it's definitely a response to interest from this area. When even the old farts fire up their compooters to play a game, well, that's cool with me

"When even the old farts fire up their compooters...."
or iPad, Android devices, iPhones...
Not sure how old you are but think for a minute that many of us old farts have been around 'puters of all kinds for decades and we really aren't afraid of them.....some of us have even been software coders, designers and architects....
Enough with the old fart moniker....I just hate it when some people have to insult others just to make their point.
I AM an old fart and proud of it bucko...

Well, any manufacturer coming out with a Cromwell, Churchill or a Matilda will get my purchase - these are interesting AFv's no matter how you look at it and for the hobbyist or anyone with an interest in tanks will know these vehicles. We all built the 1/72 Airfix models as kids right? (or most of us did!!) and these still sell well. I often see kids in my local hobbycraft buying these models so the interest is their, even by my small example. I can't believe that any RC model tank manufacturer could not put together a business case to justify the development of one of these models.............lets hope they do soon...............

I mean what I said in the most endearing way. I tend to stick to the idea that this is just the internet, and a forum about model tanks. Old farts are cool with me (also often warm..), as are Canucks, Yanks and young pups. I'm old enough to not sound like an indignant freshman-type :P

Hi Erik
Woohoo. Now waiting on the invoice...
Re the sprue with the 6 bolt M26 hubs, has you given any thought to producing actual M41 4 bolt hubs?
As you can see I've started down the path of modifying the 6 bolt ones, but need to get some round styrene rod.

As for more modifications on the M41, I'm not sure yet on the plans with it. I'll mention the hub caps though ok? Send me a few pics when you are done ok?

I know pretty much everyone would hate this idea but one of my favorite Post WWII tanks was the M47. I just really like the size and shape of it with that cool turret and bustle. It would be really cool if some one could make a turret for an M47 and then the chassis of the 41 could be modified to a close enough state. Or possibly the M26 may be a better base for the nodel. Just a thought. I just really like the 47 turret, and it was the last US tank with a bow gunner too.

Nope... I don't hate it, I love it!
I have been a M47 fan ever since the movie "Battle of the Bulge". It's slick and used mostly WWII German similarities on it as the range equipment and sloped turret armor.
(great idea)

Hi The Panthers
Can't say I'm a huge fan of the M47, looking at it, I get the impression of a duck from the turret, but I prefer the 105mm version over the 90mm.
Hull wise, the M26 hull is closer - until you get to the rear - engine decks & exhausts, then there's that horrible little tensioning wheel forward of the sprocket - never liked those on the early M47's & M48's - always looked like an engineering afterthought.
Re the turret, the M47 & M41 shared the T/C's cupola, so that's a relatively easy transplant.

With a stretch we could stage 1/16 encounters between Godzilla and the JSDF.....
