Welcome spooky one. All I can tell you is that my Torro King Tiger has given me two years of trouble free operation. About a year ago I purchased and installed an IBU2 and a Futaba radio system in the tank. It has enhanced the operation, handling, and sound of the KT. I'm sure others will chime in and voice their opinions. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the hobby. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions. There are plenty of helpful and experienced people here.

Whenever I am in the market to upgrade on one of my Tanks and there is a choice between TORRO or MATO without fail I buy TORRO,
The quality is far higher and the prices are very similar.

Hi, The first upgrade I fitted was a pair of metal hatches for a Tiger 1,
I buy Heng Long Bodies because the Taigen bodies have the tools moulded into them the Heng Long ones pop off,
So I cut the Plastic/ABS blank Hatches out and fit the TORRO/ASIATAM metal ones which are an easy fit and are better finished with fewer parts,
I buy TAIGEN Metal Hulls from FORGEBEAR on E-BAY He is totally trustworthy and will sell you complete TAIGEN Tanks from across the range he also has a multiple page website with just about every upgrade on the market at good prices and he sells worldwide.
By the way Plastic/ABS is good in a Tank body if you intend fitting upgrades that require the use of a Pin Vise or modelling tools such as a DREMEL
The simple truth is that there are many inaccuracies in 1/16 RC Tanks and it is easier to fix and modify a Plastic/ABS body than it is to do the same work on a metal one and if you screw up with a Plastic /ABS body you can repair the damage that you could not with a metal body AND they are a lot cheaper.

EXACTLY... brilliant minds think alike!

That's why I am stunned that they sell metal RTR's. Only the kids and novices are interested in those as they are a builders nightmare and the weight sacrifice is NOT in our favor.

Spooky if HENG LONG sold a TIGER1 or a PANZER 4 or a KING TIGER or a PANTHER with a METAL HULL I would probably buy the whole tank from them BUT they don't,
The Taigen Metal hull comes with a quality Torsion bar suspension as well as a quick release system that allows the hull and body the ability to separate without having to unscrew 8 screws and as the HENG LONG body fits the TAIGEN Hull so easily and the metal hull offers a rigidity not offered by the Heng Long plastic/ABS hull why not ?

There is another advantage of buying the hull and the body in separate purchases it allows you the choice of what gearboxes to fit and if you space out the purchases you find you have the chance of shopping around for the best deals.

Spooky you asked about the IBU2 , It is a control board but it is infinitely superior to the RX18 and at £120+ you would rightly expect it to be.
In the UK it can be purchased from -
www.rctankelectronics.com
The guy to talk to is IAN and his service is top quality unfortunately there is a downside, he is from MANCHESTER!! I hope you are alright with that.?
