Default Battery charger question

Guys,

Over the years, I have managed to collect quite a few different 7.2v batteries from Ni-CD to NiMh and 1100Mah to 5800mah. I have one multi-charger but it is a drag to wait on it to charge. What strategies do you guys recommend to quicken the process? Is there a better/quicker charger out there than my Imex B6?

You can charge at a higher amperage, but you need to make sure your battery can handle it. Usually 1C is safe, but some older batteries might not be too happy with the rate of charge. Also remember fast charging does kill your battery faster. Do what I do and just keep a large stock of them and get a big charger and parallel charge them. Check out www.bateryuniversity.com if you got any questions on batteries, they have quite the wealth of information there.

That's a good looking charger, Harley, but it's cheaper straight from hobby king.

Gotcha. Does that charger need a separate power supply or can you plug it into the wall?

It requires a Power Supply.

Thanks for the info guys! Why does my 5000Mah NiMH sometimes take over an hour and a half to charge on my B6?

Because you are charging at less than 1C. What battery do you have? Did you check my link on C ratings and what they mean?

I would think it wold take about an 1 hr if drained, 5000mah charged at 5amps if the charger has the watts to do it about 40 watts. That is a 1c charge rate.
