Default M-18

I have a question.. Maybe some one out there has pondered this and can comment...

It is very (Very) early in the thought process, but

I have been thinking of doing an M-18 Hellcat...could the

Walker Bulldog chassis, wheels, suspension, and Tracks

be used for this? I think the upper Hull and Turret and

gun could be 3D printed..

Thanks, Joe

I know there have been a couple hellcat builds on here... Do you know what chassis they used?

Personally I think styrene for the upper hull and a proper metal or styrene barrel with a 3d printed turret, muzzle break, and detail parts would be the best. Stronger hull and smoother barrel for recoil, with nice detail on small parts and turret. Just printing it all could be faster though.

That would be cool for sure.. I know of the Hellcat Turret for the Sherman..I think its even available right now from Taigen (not 100% sure on that)..So I was thinking if the Walker Bulldog chassis can work or be modified to work.. only the upper hull would be needed to be Printed to make a proper M-18... Just quick thought exercise...

Sorry.. I ment the Jackson Turret... (having said that, I wouldn't mind a Jackson either).. I have asked Christian and a few other makers to consider making an M-10 mod for the Sherman...... frankly, I would take either....,. I'd take a Chaffee too... excluding the M10 / Jackson I think it woukld be cool to have something to race around the battlefield... Joe

Here's a Hellcat build on another forum that can give you some ideas. Bulldog chassis; styrene upper hull; and Nick Aguilar's resin turret. http://www.rctankregiment.com/rctank...hilit=hellcats

Yeah... that Super Hellcat is pretty nice, but a prototype that never made production using the M18 chassis with the M36 turret.

FANTASTIC!!! Thank You... I didn't know Nick made a Hellcat turret... You know this is a golden age for us old time tankers... I mean so many tanks are available or becoming available.... I just heard (literally 3 minutes ago) that an M-10 conversion for as HL Sherman will be available in a few weeks... Wonderful!!!!

So Check this out... I asked Attilia if he planned on doing an M-10 and pleaded the case a few months ago... I never heard anything back and thought it was just a

request that would go un-heeded.., so I am simply blown-away that this is nearly finished... Looks like the too-build list is gonna get one more added to it... Very Excited..Joe

I made an M18 from a bulldog. Scratch built the upper and the turret and used Pziv tracks.

Looks nice Herman! Good use of existing materials too.

I want to scratch build the Stridsvagn 103C. The 'S' Tank.

I need to get a Bulldog first.

Looks like all of them swapped out the frontal idler with either a pz3 or pz4 drive sprocket and pz3 or 4 tracks to replicate the hellcats front wheel drive, except Rex, I cant tell what he is using. What are you using Rex?

Also that M10 is awesome! Great news to see one finally going to be released

How is the gearbox setup in that? Looks like it would be a real tight fit with the angle of the upper plate

What was tight was stuffing a Tamiya DMD and MFU plus a speaker into that thing

Martellus --

I built my Hellcat from a 21st Century Toys Walker Bulldog lower hull. It (and the crew) are 1/18th scale. The track is a rubber band type of thing. Since the dimensions of a real Walker are longer and wider than a Hellcat, the 1/18 model comes out to be about 1/17 scale. I built it long before HL came out with their Walker Bulldog. I wish I had another 21st Century Walker, they are asking big bucks for them on eBay.

I did not modify the hull on the one I did. I was very concerned with the gearboxes not fitting. I think it looks and came out great anyway.

I for one want, or actually maybe need a Priest. Depending on whether you approve of some of my choices or not. LOL. But i dig SPG's and mobile artillery. I just think they add a dimension to a battle that really makes things interesting, like getting caught in an artillery barrage. put your head between your knees and kiss your you know what good by. HAHA.

Our Hellcat was based on a HL Pershing.
