Default Help with Hooben Elefant

Questions pertains to running wheels and tracks. I was told that the running wheels are metal in the model kit, i heard plastic.

If not, can anyone point me in the right direction for acquiring the metal running wheels and tracks that will work together and with the Hooben Elefant?

Thanks

Asiatam should have what you are looking for. Mine had metal suspension but plastic road wheels with metal drive wheels and idlers.

The Hooben Elefant comes with plastic running wheels & metal idler/drive wheels, and plastic tracks. I bought a set of metal tracks, metal gun barrel & metal gun mounting plate from ETO Armor. They were all good quality & service was great. I checked the web site & I do not see them listed anymore. You may want to send him an email to inquire. Good luck.

The metal road wheels will add alot of weight, and my Hooben Elefant transmissions were pretty weak to begin with. I've had about 4 bent gear shafts (all on the lower end of the TU's). I replaced them with some spare Impact ones I had as extra. Now, problems are all gone.

As to metal tracks, I'm pretty sure Kenny Kong's are all that's available nowadays. They are the best for the Elefant though.

Jeff, could I use Taigen 4/1 transmission? Also I found the Hooben/Ark metal tracks, will those work?

No you need Tamiya style output shafts

I use the stock Hooben transmissions and some Schumo 3:1 gear reduction units. Other than the bent shafts, it works just fine. I've been IR battling it for about 3 years now.
