So I just received my Tiger 1 today, crazy fast shipping! I purchased it from the seller on the Bay mentioned in another thread. It is the upgraded version with steel gearboxes, metal tracks, drive wheels a idlers and includes the NEW 2.4G radio system with Leo/Tiger sounds, standalone barrel elevation and a new speaker. It also has a new battery door design with no hardware, just a spring-loaded lock system, which is an awesome feature for me. I'm extremely impressed with the sounds and new electronics! The driving is very smooth and proportional and the sound is 1000X better than all the previous generation Heng Long Tanks. For $129 shipped, you really cannot beat the value. I will be for sure upgrading my Leo!

NICE! I am waiting on my sherman... I am in NJ so it will take a while!

A brief look at your pictures shows that nothing changes,
It still has two spare aerial stowage tubes running parallel with each side of the engine bay when with the exception of the command Tiger 1 that had another tube slung across the rear panel it should only have one,
The cupola is still mounted incorrectly (The Hatch Hinge should be at 20 to 8 on a clockface looking from the front) and the headlights are wrong, (They should be flat faced with a horizontal slit not bulged).
Shaun.

The box says zinc now that I look at it, but they don't sound like the zinc GBs in my Leo did and those died really quickly. I think I'm going to keep this tank as-is.

I'm really glad to hear you got this, since I ordered an Abrams from the same place earlier today.
The battery door has always been like that on HL Tigers. I have one of the real early ones, with just one screw in the middle up front, but I see yours is the second gen (or maybe more) and it has two screws at the front, I think for a total of six. Mine has a total of three screws on the bottom, with more along the sides. I got that one about four years ago and now I can't find a new lower in that style so I'll have to put in a henntec (idler woes).
Thanks again for posting.

Oh it won't stay like this for appearance, I just meant that I won't be opening it up and modifying anything since it doesn't need it. I'll definitely be detailing and weathering it a bit and getting some gun blue for the tracks and drive gears/idlers. I drive them outside for natural scaring and dirtiness to help them look like less toys too.
Now I really want to sell my Leos off and get the new version.

I've heard about guys using gun blue on tracks but I always use plain old spray paint and then run them a bit to get natural wear. A quick super spin on concrete seems to work very well. You can see all my tanks at my youtube channel and you can see the tracks look pretty good on all my tanks, even though it's just cheap flat black spray paint. Cheap buzzard that I am I always go for the low cost solution first.

I haven't. I'm going to say the only difference in wiring will be the elevation and gun unit, since they added up and down function to the transmitter and another button that must be held down while pressing the left stick up to fire the gun.

Some pics of the little bit of weathering I got done this weekend, almost impossible with a 5-month old that doesn't seem to want to take naps at all. I blued the tracks and front drive sprockets, didn't have enough to finish up since I also did my M41 tracks and sprockets too.

I'm so tempted to buy two more Tigers for the new electronics. I need to sell off one of my Leopards though first and probably wait til after Christmas if I can. I really want the new sounds in the Leopard! Your Sherman should have the newest electronics, let us know!
