Hello every one, I just recently purchased my first RC tank. I am new to the hobby and am in need of assistance.
The issue, I got the tank on Friday and ran it today for the first time on the balcony, all was well for the first 15 minutes then the tank just shut down. I powered it off and on and it was running again for a minute and died again. so I thought maybe the battery was low and charged it for three hours and tried again, same thing, after a minute it died.
After investigating the issue I have determined that the on off switch is defective. If I power on the tank and push on the power switch toward the on position the power cycles. So it would seem that the power switch is defective.
so my question, is the switch serviceable or do I need to contact The vendor in Canada or Imex in the US directly
any input is appreciated

If you're in the states you should give Imex a call on Tuesday. Ask for Erik. If you do have a defective switch, the worst case scenario is probably that you'd have to buy a new switch, but they're relatively cheap. Ask Erik what he thinks. I bet you'll be happy.
If you're gonna have tanks, you're gonna have to have a decent charger and at least a couple of extra batteries. Do you have a local hobby shop close by? The one near me sells Onyx 3000 mah nimh batts for about $23 with tax. If you go bigger than 4000 mah it can get pricey. I got a good dual charger for nimh batts when I got my first tanks and it was about 90 bucks, but four years later it still works like a champ. I later got into lipos and got separate chargers for those, but that's another story.

Hi Crius,
Nope, I live in Canada, Montreal to be exact and I bought the tank online from a co. In Alberta.
I realize that one battery is not going to be enough :-) that's just one of the things on my mind. Clark or Ibu board, radio....also almost ready to pull the trigger on a tamia panther kit.... these tanks are really cool :-)
It's just unfortunate that a 10 cent (at least to manufacture) part is killing my fun.

We have some guys in Canada, so maybe one of them can help. If there's anyone that I did something for and told them to pay it forward, this would be your chance. If you have an extra switch, send this guy a PM to get his address and send it to him. I have a couple here so I know they only cost a few bucks, not a real big deal. My problem is shipping to Canada. You could buy one from Heng Long's store or somewhere and pay less than I could ship it for. International postage isn't cool.
Is your tank IR or airsoft? You need a harness like this, right? They list at about 3 bucks, not anything that will break the bank.

I am sorry that your intro to your new hobby has begun so poorly,
In the UK if something fails to do what it is advertised to do then the seller/Dealer has to fix it /exchange it at their cost,
But don't go in feet first,
A simple phone call or E-Mail to explain the problem and to let them know that if they mail the fix for the faulty item (Switch and wiring) to you that would be fine,
That way both you and the dealer are happy.
Shaun.

Hey Odd-Ball.
Welcome to the hobby. It is addicting. I have bought tanks for the same company in Alberta - good people there. Best is to get in contact with Erik from IMEX - he has helped me out in the past when I had issues with a tank purchase from a CDN vendor.
In the end I do have some spare parts lying around, so shoot me a PM if you can't get sorted out. Note that I am out of Country today till next Friday.

Hey odd-ball,
I'm sorry you are having this issue, a simple power cable shouldn't be a barrier I agree! Send me an email direct to [email protected] with your details and I'll get you taken care of. Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I had a VERY busy weekend myself and had almost no extra time to spare this weekend.
