I wonder how long before they had to rebuild the transmission or at least the clutches...

It's an M31 TRV, but you're right that it probably put a lot of extra stresses on the drivetrain. Great photos, though - thank you very much for sharing it!

Probably not bad, those locomotives dont weigh that much. Semi turcks have routinely moved steam locomotives bigger than that around here in the US.
