I should have photoed the turret additions before i did any thing. They are from shapeways from Woz. But, they are very course textured. I covered them with red putty, sanded then like 10 coats of primer.
Man cutting that turret apart to fit the bustle I felt like leonardo di caprio in Django when he cutting that skull up with a hacksaw. Any way all the 3 d parts i bought totalled up to almost 200 bucks. They aint cheap.

My tanks are actually quite dirty. I dont really clean them after a battle unless its LA, the dust there is thick and i do blow my tanks off after. The wash they get is after a beach landing with the lcm to get the salt water residue off them.

Real dirt is best dirt on a tank.

Great job tomhugill! The work that you did on your unit is excellent! It has motivated me to do some work on my newly aquired Taigen Sherman M4A3 76mm metal edition.

Ok on with my build. So if anybody noticed Im using an M4a4 hull from Dgesslkirk's firefly kit. If you know your shermans then you know the A4 had the Chrysler multibank engine and a longer hull. The hull was 11 inches longer to accommodate the longer engine. The bogies had to be spaced further apart to spread the weight of the tank out. Production ended on the A4 in late 43 and that version never was produced in the Ultimate design.
Israel got a bunch of A4s along with their pile of shermans and eventually converted them to HVSS during the M50 rebuilds or upgrades.
I decided that since Im using an A4 hull, I needed to lengthen my Tamiya hull and space the bogies out appropriately. These tanks are very noticeable when you look at M50 photos due to the gaps in the HVSS bogies.
So I took my hull partialy apart and a scrap hull, made my measurements and took them to the band saw. It went ok. It didn't go bad or good, just kind of as I expected, a pain in the rear.

I take my hat off to you rich, you're a braver man than I to stretch the tamiya tub. Looks like a job well done though. Interestingly a lot of the A4 hull versions made their way to become the ultimate Sherman, the Chilean M60 (m50 with M60 hyper velocity gun).

Ok here it is. Long Dong Sherman!
Hull lengthened successfully. Bogies and track rollers respaced according to measurements and all the joints and old holes filled in.
Wow what a project just making the hull was. But.... I had to lengthen the track by 5 track pads. Which means the track on the other side is 10 short lol.
Anybody got one spare Tamiya track they will sell me to put my tracks back together? Or half a track LOL

You just need the standard Tamiya plastic Pershing/Sherman/Leopard track? If so, I can send you mine. It looks like you may need a few more sections as that looks pretty taunt.

Its supposed to have the steel chevron track, most M50s did. I think the pershing has the rubber track pads. I had 6 added links and it was real sloppy so I took one back out. WOnt really know till I can drive the thing you know. So I need to hunt for one track or buy a used pair.
