Heng Long new tanks rumor

Heng Long new tanks rumor
Based on a post from 5iMX.com (basically China's RC Universe), Heng Long is going to show case
their new tanks in the upcoming (4/20-4/22) Hobby Expo China in Beijing.
The rumor says that Heng Long is going to release CNC metal tanks. From the post, we know at least where will be
1/16 Tiger and 1/8 M1A2 Abrams. Both will have metal gear box. The attached gear box photos are the pre-production
version. In addition to metal tanks, T-72 is also scheduled to release some time this year. The T-72 will come with an
updated radio controller.
Heng Long is also going to release its own (upgraded?) battle system: Ecosystem 1.0. It looks pretty much like an app
based battle system, where the user is able to view the status of the tank in realtime.

Tank status in real time would be nice.
Sometimes I lose track of how many times the tank has been hit.
Especially for the heavy tanks (9)hits
Now we wait for Taigens new surprises....

Those look like some nice little gearboxes....sealed...nice. A 1/8 Abrams is nice, but it's been done before. Now a 1/6th Abrams...I would be saving my pennies for that one.

T-72? Thats is the easy route for introduce a "new" tank as it will be most likely just be a stripped down version of their T-90 and I am willing to bet use a majority of the same parts. There must be a wider segment of the market looking for a "Cold War" era tank like the T-72 than there is for an M60, Chieftain, Leopard 1. Personally I do not see what the T-72 brings to the table that the T-90 doesn't already. They are just to close in design.

The last sales material from HL promised both an Easy8 and a Mid/Late M4 75(dry), along with a M51 and a AS90
I'd take a AS90 and more than a couple of M4 75's for sure. Heng Long missed the boat for selling me a M51 and M4A3E8 76(w) by more than a few years tho...

Hearing from a few different sources and again these aren’t confirmed but apparently HL has undergone a management change with the son taking over management. He has shifted focus to large scale tanks as we’ve seen. Sales have apparently been very disappointing. There as also been a rumor that HL has lost it’s CAD team which I imagine would slow down any future new releases. If they plan to return to designing new 1/16 tanks some of the rumored possibility’s that I’ve heard about are an M60,Merkava,Leopard 1,AS-90,Centurion or something British from WW2 like a Cromwell. Also price point will be much higher than previous tanks in the range of 400 usd. Again these are just rumors so take it with a grain of salt but this is what I’ve heard after snooping around for awhile. I hope maybe with the apparent success of the 1/16 trucks HL has decided to refocus on 1/16 tanks.

I don't know a whole lot about this business, but from my perspective, 1/16 scale tanks seem to be about perfect. They can build "entry level" tanks in the sub-$200 range, which you can spend another $500 on to trick out, or you can buy $500+ tanks already tricked out from the get go. This caters to both the low end and high end of the market, giving great depth. But the 1/6th scale tanks, while very cool, are also much more expensive and are out of the "dabbler" range and into "enthusiast" range. Not only for price, but for the size of the thing and the logistics in playing with it. You pretty much have to have a mini van or a truck to take it places.

The trucks aren't even rebadged that I can see. I've never seen one for sale with a HL box... Only pic I've seen of it was on their website.

Aside from the models on the brochure above they also claimed a Centurion in development 2 years ago. Of course equally empty promise. The only thing we can confirm in the work (but can take years) is a M60 collab with their Taiwanese distributor, which will be priced higher than usual HL.
For T-72 Waltherson is still working on it - they haven't updated on FB but we have seen its progress on June.

This is a great topic! I can see a T-72 being their next new tank. Most of the parts would be the same. I think that they will upgrade their older tanks to the 2.4 GHZ system, like they did to their Pershing. A M4A3 with a 75 would be great, they could use the same hull as their 105 mm version. As for a Centurion, I can only dream on, LOL!

Hmm.. I’ll only consider a Sherman when Heng Long brings-out a full-on firefly with the correct turret-bustle rear-thing and longer body.. It’s an “early youth” -thing. The Matchbox 1/72 D-Day firefly was my vèry first tank-kit. Stuck it -and my fingers with it- together when I was 10, or 11, I believe.. ooff.. I’m old... They were great little kits, I remember. Easy to assemble for little, clumsy fingers, came in multi-coloured plastic ánd came with a tiny diorama . No need to paint, good enough for a kid..
What I am réally waiting for is Heng Long to get on with the T-72. I have completely given-up on a Centurion, but that T-72.. C’mon Heng Long.. that shouldn’t be too hard, since You already got the basics in the T-90..

Try chasing down an Eastern European guy who's business just folded shop after you bought his last Jagdpanzer IV L/70 citadel, locating then fabricating a whole host of parts then as you finish it, Tamiya releases theirs....Yes I have been there and done that...
