1/16th scale markings source?
#1

Hi guys, While finishing up a build I'm at the point where I need some US markings. In the past I would hit up Archer dry transfers and use their 1/16 pershing / star set but both of these sets are no longer available. Does anyone else have a generic set of US tank markings in 1/16? Elite armor makes some marking sets but his are specific to a certain vehicle and I just need some generic stars, and some USA bumper ID letters. Is there another source out there that produces something like this?

The original way of fixing Stars and numbers was by using Stencils,
A very good maker of them is a member of this fun palace, RAD SCHUHART,
Goto---
www.radindustries.wordpress.com/
He is based in Europe in Austria but as the stencils are sent in a regular envelope the postage costs are minimal and while the quality is high the cost of the stencils is almost giveaway,
If you know the numbers then that is what Rad will send you but he will happily compose a valid set for you along with the stars,
Message him he is very helpful.

Something like this?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/17237422198...YAAOSwh2xYACBZ
Ebay has a lot of options, just search "1/16 sherman decals".

I think it's gonna take some shopping around and you may have to get more than one sheet to find everything you need. This sheet might be a good start

I'd also check the static model joints, too, like squardon.com and scalehobbyist.com, etc, etc. Even places like hobbylinc, since decals fit in a simple envelope it opens the options. Of course, I did once order decals and they showed up about two months late with a literal tire track (I think from a forklift) on the envelope and about 25% of the sheet was no good. I probably even still have that sheet ... somewhere.

FOA also sells paint masks - mostly for Shermans in 1/16 and some in 1/6. They are from Belgium originally, but I think the maker passed away. And ordering from FOA is always an adventure, so I avoid them. In fact I can't even find their website anymore.
Best way is to laser cut them on Frisket paper. But not everyone has a laser or access to one.
