In the video you will see it's an ALL plastic kit, and a pretty nice one too. Frame, wheels, molded TIRES (two halves make up one) so it is pretty light and NO working suspension.

Michal, that video is priceless. That's the first time I've seen a good video that shows exactly how someone RCed a Danbury Mint Jeep. I must have 10 of those things, and at least three of them got enough damage during shipping to make them good candidates for RC. I also have a Losi 1/24 crawler but I've kind of been saving that for the Tamiya 1/16 DAK kubelwagen kit that's been hiding on the Shelf laughing at me because I still haven't built it. Ha, I said kubelwagen and my phone typed Google Volume. It's always good to start the day with a laugh.

But I think I'll still pick up this kit, just to see if I can combine any of the lightweight plastic parts with the metal parts of the Danbury Mint Jeep. The detail on the Danbury Mint Jeep is just excellent, so I don't think I'll need to replace any parts for that reason, but for their size they're pretty heavy so if I can maybe use the plastic body or something to save weight that might be something to look into. What do you guys think?

Does takom usually sell individual sprues? If they were to offer the .50 cal and/or the driver I would need at least a half-dozen. The driver should fit in a Danbury Mint Jeep pretty well, and that .50 cal is pretty cool, I'd like to put one of those on about a half a dozen different tanks.

I don't have an answer on that but since this model if going through Andy, you can just call his shop and ask him, super nice guy and will be the one to let you know if spare sprues will be available.

There have been posts that Takom responds to sprue requests through Facebook, but since you don't use FB that doesn't really help.

Yes, Trumpeter does as I've gotten sprues from them.
