Default Suggestions on how to replace tow cable brackets on KV-1

So I have managed to break both of the brackets that the turnbuckles attach to on the KV-1 hull.

My snug tow cables are a bit too snug, I guess.

I want to replace them with metal. But I'm not sure how to go about it. These plastic dog leg brackets evidently have a peg that they are glued into the applique armor with. The applique armor is likewise pegged and glued to the upper hull.

It's easy enough to fashion a new dogleg out of some metal, but I don't think glue is going to hold it to the applique very well - some kind of peg is needed.

I guess I could fashion it out of brass and solder a peg to it to go into the applique. I could 3D print something with a peg already on it but I think it's too small to be strong in PLA.

What do you all suggest?

I would do this: "fashion it out of brass and solder a peg to it to go into the applique."
