Has anyone ordered from eTamiya out of Hong Kong? If so, what are there shipping rates like? I cannot seem to get an answer from thier website on shipping charges. Thanks for any input!

Shipping is a bit pricey, but if it's any consolation, the customer service was great. They had messed up an order for me and they did not charge me for shipping on one item. I know that E-bay has some really good prices on the Tamiya tanks and stuff, but the shipping is a real kick in the pants.
www.dave4whathobbies.com has/had some good stuff too. Don't know if he is restocking his stuff. He is in the states. Another thing to think about is that you might want to check with your local hobby store. In the past, I had bought a Pershing tank at the hobby store by me, and they said that they would match the price of other competitors and not charge me shipping. I don't know if this would be the same for anybody else, but it is worth a try. The hobby stores in my area are hurting for business and it seems that they would go to any lengths to keep your business. With some research and patience, you may find a better deal. Hope this helps some.

That was my mistake. Thanks for the correction.
I know that he used to have King Tiger, Tiger I, Pershing and the Sherman, but last I checked he just has the Leopard as far as full option kits go. I have talked to him a couple of times last year. Nice guy though.
If you are looking for something cheaper, there is a 1981 King Tiger on e-bay that is new in box. No, it is not mine and I am not advertising, just trying to help you guys out. Anyone have any info on the older style Tamiya RC tanks from 1981? I am looking for info on its ability to climb and turn. I am a bit confused on how the clutch works with just one motor. Dose the clutch lock out one side of gears or is it able to slow down one side of gears when tring to do a smooth turn.
Thanks

Digger:
If you use the full throw of your servo and have set the clutch up right (in neutral its ~just~ short of touching the engagement taps on the clutches) you shoud be able to just slow one track while the other one continues to move. The core part of this is remembering that one motor is driving both, so if you slow one track, the power is transferred to the other and gives it more torque.
RRR has popped one of the Integy SCM5501 lathe motors in his KT, and says it makes the sucker purr... mebbe I can get him to elaborate on this a bit.
I'm looking for a clutcher too... but I want a Leopard 1A4 specifically.
- Chassis needs to be functional (could be missing tracks - 56014/56016 composites fit if 'stretched' w/ spare links)
- Hull & Turret mostly intact, though barrel damage & some assessories won't matter to me.
Have parts I can offer in trade... e-mail me if you have one and want to let it go.

I bought a T-34 tank from them about 2 weeks ago. The shipping on my item was about $43.00..... T-34, $68.... shipping $43.. total was like $111. Got my item in about 4-5 days. Over all shipping and package good.
Hope this helps.

I've been getting Tamiya gear from Karen, A.K.A. girltankette, at http://www.aaftankmuseum.com/RC%20Tank%20Kits.htm
Good prices, great service and profits go to the musem.

I get almost all of my Tamiya parts from Karen at the AAF. ETO is a great supplier too. I like to deal with people I can actually communicate with. Everyone here who has ever been to the museum knows Karen and most of us know Bob at ETO from these forums. Just adds a little comfort level too my purchases.

I would like to share my experience for those who are contemplating about buying from etamiya.
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; ">Well, I placed an order from ETamiya and never received the shipment for 2 months. Later I got a message that says the order is returned and ask for more funds for another attempt. At this point, I got suspicious and checked online. Apparently I am not the first who has gotten money stolen from this site.I asked for a refund and was promptly refused.</span><br style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; " /><br style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; " /><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; ">I am surprised this company has not been put out of business yet.
