Default Wanting to UPGRADE

Ok I bought what appears to be a Heng Long Tiger I with smoke and sound....NO FLAMING I like the sounds, thougtht the smoke would be cool.

I found a metal gear set on Ebay to replace the plastic gears and am thinking of purchasing them. Question is will the metal gears, and a little bracing when it is apart stop the gears from losing thier mesh and grinding together while the tank just sits there?

Are there any more mods I can do to the tank to make it better (like lower speed higher torque motors)?

How is your Pershing working, so far? I hope you have a good experience. The smoke and sound functions are cool. [sm=thumbup.gif].....mine just does not work. [&o]

As far as upgrades, the steel gears sound good to me. I am having a slight problem with the plastic gears in my Tiger 1, because the foremost gear tends to slip from side to side on its axle (grooved), causing the tank to lose turning power. Today, I took the gear boxes out, disassembled them, superglued the gear onto the axle, and put it back together. Now, it turns much better in high traction areas like grass and carpet. There seem to be more upgrades for the Tiger 1 than the Pershing, though: metal tracks and metal hatches. There are also metal drive wheels for both....if you can buy from the German Ebay.

I may be able to buy from the German Ebay. Funny because my wife is German. I had her translate a couple of the listings for me this evening. Problem is that most of the ones that I saw only ship to Germany. We coudl probably get her uncle to purchase parts for us and then ship them to us.

I have the same problem with the gears slipping ( I think). Does it sound like they are just scraping against each other with a clicking noise when they slip? If so that is exactly what mine is doing. Might have to try and glue my gears as well until I can get one of the metal gear sets.

I also want to get some metal tracks. Only place I found them so far is on the German Ebay. I thought it was kind of strange though because the packaging is in english.

Mine do not make any noise, they simply move over to one side and allow the gear to slip off of the grooves in the axle. When the axle spins under stress, the gear does not. A clicking noise could mean that the gears are out of mesh because of something loose.......or maybe a foreign object is in there. []
