Default Gear Reductions

I have posted about this before, but nobody answered, so I'll try again... Is it possible to put the 3:1 gear reductions that are made for Tamiyas' on a Heng Long Tiger 1 gearbox?

I'm planning on getting the metal tracks and sprocket kit from Mato Toys, as well as metal replacement gears. Also, does anyone make the gearbox braces for HL's, or will I have to fabricate my own?

Too late! Mine works quite well, thank you. But I gotta slow it down. Just looking for ideas.

Brimauster:

You might try asking in the MaruiTankGroup for a more enlightened answer: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MaruiTankGroup/

There was word of slower motors, but reports are they weren't very good quality. If you're serious about your tank, one way is the upgrade-packs from MatoToys:

http://www.matotoys.com/canada/produ...products_id=87 (tracks are blackened)
http://www.matotoys.com/canada/produ...products_id=88 (tracks are dark silver)

http://www.matotoys.com/canada/produ...products_id=71 (set to renovate one Tiger, both gearboxes)

You might want to talk to Stang951, as he has this upgrade inbound.

My gears are in the tank and they appear to have slowed it dowon some. I tried it after I installed the gears, without the upper hull and turret installed. Once I have it together with the metal tracks I will give you some more updated information. Right now I am waiting on paint and the tracks to complete the work I am doing to it.
