First, please bare with me as I am tanktarded.........
I couldn't decide between a 1/24 vspro and a 1/16 HL Pershing w/ S&S, so I'm just going to buy both and quit stressing. I am going to order the airsoft version of the VSPro from Toyeast. I'm just getting into tanks and have no idea one tank from another, or "tanktarded" as I call it. I think I'm going with the Leopard because I like the idea that it has functional lights front and rear. I want the NATO camo, but I have no idea weather I should get the 2 A5, or the 2 A6??
Can someone explain to me the cosmetic difference between those 2 vspro models? I know the 2 A5 has a shorter cannon than the 2 A6, but is there any other major or minor cosmetic differences? Also what is the real life signifigance between those 2 tanks? Were they used for different things in the real world?
thanks,
eric

It looks like they did some changes to the front lower hull.....square headlights ,sloped fenders..something looks different.

Only difference is the barrel. Even paintjob and decals are same. That's why VS 2a5 and 2a6 hulls and turrets are completely interchangable. TM 2a6 is a little different from TM 2a5. In real life, the strv-122 and 2a6e have square headlamps, and other different things. But neither VS or TM make the strv-122 or the 2a6e.

Thanks for the info, and the pics!
Shagnifico, In the VSPro tanks, do you just have the Leopard? Or, do you own the Abrams as well?

T&B, have you noticed any mechanical differences between those two? Is one slower/faster, run more quietly, etc.......?
I just ordered a HL 1/16 Pershing S&S last night, so I'm gonna take a week or two and decide which 1/24 I want to get. I really like the Leopard more than the Abrams.... It just has an ominous look about it! I don't think I like the way they rigged those headlights and tail lights up though..... How they start and stop all the time..... weird.

I have both. I copie and paste here what I wrote over at the group.
Couple of notes about differences between the leo and m1a2. The Leo
comes completely assembled with decals on. The m1a2 you will need to
assemble some minor parts, (machine guns, tow hitch) and you get a
small selection of stickers to choose from. My desert m1a2 was a weird
dark tan color, I had to repaint it with tamiya light sand color spray
paint.
The abrams is a bit slower than the Leo, I think this is probably due
to different size drive wheel. The abrams handles obstacles better,
it's front is sloped like the front hull of a boat, so it can climb
over taller rocks than the leo can. Also the leo has rigid mudflaps
(just like real leos) which bang on things as you are climbing over
them. Also the rigid mudflaps will prevent you from climbing over
things in reverse sometimes. The Leo has headlights and reverse
lights, the abrams doesn't have any except the coax mg LED. I think
tokyo maruis tiger does, but I'm not sure.

That's a better comparison that I would have gave--basically, my two cats can still catch both tanks but can't tip them over. However, it is easier to see them in the dark with the Leopard.
