I am putting the hard plastic tracks on my VS leopard tank and I am finding that are either very tight or very loose on my 2 leopards. I already put them on my M1A2 and they were looser. The Leopards go from very tight and taut to slipping by only adding one track insert. What is the best way and how tight should they be?[X(]

My Feedback: (9)
When I assembled those plastic-link tracks, I had the stock rubber tracks next to them to measure. I'm not sure how many links are needed, but mine are perfect. [sm=thumbup.gif] Lay out the rubber ones next to them and see how they compare.

Mine are 75 links each for leopard and 86 each for abrams. I put them in boiling water for 5min before
it goes on the tank for the first time and let them cool off before running. Never had a problem with any
kind of slippages.

I had the same problem with mine, but found it is possible to adjust the track tension.
Be careful and patient doing this, and you should have good results. Remove the tracks, upper hull & turret and make a vertical mark in the rubber mount holds the drive assembly in the lower hull (this both a guide, and is to let you you go back to the factory position easily). If you remove the drive assembly and rotate the rubber mount you'll see that it operates like a cam, and rotating it to different positions will move the assembly forward or back slightly. Move them both the same direction (using the mark you made as a guide) and with a bit of trial and error you should be able to set the tension perfectly.
As far as what the "correct" tension is, I'm not exactly sure. If I hold mine horizontally in the air there is about 1/8" between the track and the center roadwheels, and they seem to run just fine there.
Hope this helps.

I hope they aren't from tower hobbies, as far as I know they don't sell the leo tracks, though the item description would lead you to believe otherwise.

Why boil the tracks?
By the way...I counted the tracks and I have 75 and they are way tight. The tracks are for the leopard and are different than the ones I put on my M1A2.
Also....how would I take off the chassis to adjust the tension of the drive sprockets?

I'm guessing the boiling would expand the plastic to allow it to fit, once cooled they would retain the expanded form. If I'm rioght, I did actually learn something in high school.
