Default A bit of clarification please...

Just for something to tinker with and a bit of a modeling challenge, I decided to pickup a H.L Tiger. I would like the version with the metal gears and slower (8500?) motors.

Given that they are litterally 10 miles from my house, I though I would buy it from Raidentech. I am a tad confused on whether this is the version I am looking for...http://www.raidentech.com/1getiairsorc.html

Anybody buy one from them and confirm that this is indead the one with the options I want? I am not overly conerned about the smoke and bb gun and will probably remove them as I go, but the sound would be nice and the metal gears a must.

Any help or info appreciated

Well, I checked out what you were refering to and it is a little confusing. [] On the main tank page of their site, the link for the Tiger 1 smoke and sound goes to the link that you posted, but it does not say smoke and sound in the description. Usually, that is the big selling point, so I would wait and talk to a person at the shop if I were you.

I would not count on the tank coming with the metal gears or 8500 motors.....that sounds like an upgrade that you would probably have to add yourself. There are some of the HL tanks on Ebay with metal upgrades in the box, but I think that even then you have to install them yourself, in most cases.

Go to the shop and ask for exactly what you want and see what they can do for you, I guess.

Good Luck!

......if I were you, I would have charged 7.2v stick pack battery with me to try the tank before I even walked out of the store....to be SURE that it works properly.

Sadly, nobody but distributers may purchase from the Raidentech warehouse in person directly. I would still have to order it and have it delivered, but delivery would be fairly cheap I assume. As metal gearboxes are available cheap from Mato, it would not be a huge deal to use whatever I end up with and upgrqade later if needed.but it would be sweet to get it all right out of the gate too.

That stinks. [] In that case, I would definitely correspond with them via e-mail before I purchased the tank. They may be able to provide the other parts that you want (at a cost, of course) when you buy the tank....I really have no idea.

If not, like you said, you can always order the parts later and upgrade whenever you are ready. It might be a good idea to make sure that the tank is up to snuff before you buy a bunch of extra parts, anyway. I seem to recall that people who ordered from that company have had successful experiences, but the product itself my be faulty and you need a company who will work with you in case you need to make a return or exchange.

I have a Hen Long Tiger 1 in desert tan on ebay at no reserve. It's the smoke and sound version and works fine, including the smoke. A note on the smoke unit--only a light mist of smoke is generated. There are tips on how you can open up the Hen Long smoke unit and make a simple modification to generate considerably more smoke. I'll post the web address, which leads to a UK tanking site. Really good information. Up for auction on the same site are a pair of new gearboxes and metal gear upgrades for the same gears, which work on their Pershing and Panther as well.

Mato Toys is the only distributor that has the "Super Version" HL's, at least according to what I've read in this forum.
This post makes mention of what it involves (just the metal gearboxes):

Maybe you might consider ordering the tank from them--then you will get it all at once.

I will let you know if I get hung up. I only plan on slight modification for appearence reasons (barrel , headlights, hatches and tools to start with) and then painted up as a member of the 2nd Das Reich or maybe the 9th hohenstaufen division just to be different. Should be an interesting modeling project as well as a fun "toy"

Hi guys,

I have 2 1:16 HL Tiger1's one S+S and the second is a non S+S that had all the electronics removed. That said I have some questions for the other HL owners.

My S+S version Tiger1 has a slight problem when moving at mid to high throttle settings, it tends to jerk alot. No other issues or functions are affected.

any ideas as to the cause? This does not appear to be a run time or heat releated issue. air temp was aprox 70deg.

My next question is for the HL Mad Scientists out there; has anyone ever replaced the stock board mounted ESC with a aftermarket ESC and been able to keep or add the sound circuit? I would like to add the sound unit to my electronicly challanged tiger_931. At present the ESC is a Scorpion HX dual ESC.

Regards

bullyhys
