Upgrading a tank? Worth it?

Hi Guys,
This problem has troubled me a lot. If you are a man with a thick wallet and can afford a 600,00 USD tank (if batteries and RC control added it will be even more) , so it is not enough to have a nice working tank! Upgrades are to be made. If upgraded a lot with all possible upgrades, the cost will be tremendous. It is better to buy a 1/8 tank.
So where is the stopline to upgrades? What do you think? Which upgrades do you consider necessary and which not? For example, Sowmare's KT weighs a lot. It has lots of metal things and upgrades and we can only guess how much he invested into his adorable toy.
Your comments are welcome.

Each person determines how far they want to go based on their budget and desires. There's no right answer.
For me, I cannot justify spending a thousand dollars for a single tank or say $600 for a basic kit that has to be built and doesn't come with lots of add-ons. But I might someday go for a single 1/6 scale tank! I currently have 5 Heng Longs and have or will spend an average of $200 on each for them for upgrades and spares in addition to their aquisition price. Everyone has different goals, people may have different goals for each of their tanks.

I agree with Swathdriver. Everything depends on what your wallet says (and the wife!). Me personally, I try to find the best deal and ask questions. I am acquiring a tank from a good friend for a super price, brand new. Sure I have to get the electronics and some other things, but the price is WAY BELOW what a new one, on the market, would cost. Just like the DMD and MFU, Tamiya asks quite a bit of money ofr their units, There is an option, http://el-mod.de/index.php?topic=1&lang=deutsch they make the same thing with different add ons, way cheaper than the Big "T." As soon as the sound module is finished, that is what I will purchase.

Though I have but my one recently purchased HL tank, I think that maybe one day, If I have more disposable income, a 1/6 scale German tank might be something I would want. That said, I have too many hobbies already so this is it for me. I just got back from Hobby lobby. The 1/48th scale static Tiger model (name brand can be surmised) here in Nashville Tennessee is $41. Its 1/48th scale and $41. Sorry, as I said before, the enjoyment I have gotten out of my $67 1/16th scale full function tank that I am told will self destruct in a ball of burning fire, has surpassed any joy that could be obtained from that $41 static model. Its all about your personal utility you receive for what you expend.
