Default Need some Tamiya help.....

My Hummel is completed (except for the tracks, which I'm still working on [:@]) and I have connected all of the electronics from the Tamiya King Tiger, but it will not do anything......it just sets there, flashing. [sm=angry.gif]

I do not have a KT manual, so I hooked everything up the same way as my Sherman, but I get no sound, no movement - nothing. I used the set/reset button about 10 times with no effect. I know that the speaker wire is plugged in and I know it is getting power from the battery. Some of the wires that are in my Sherman will not be used in the KT (orange and white: machine gun, orange and gray: turret rotation, or blue and white: lights), but I have all of the other wires in the right place, so this is my question:

Is there something that I have to do the first time that I hook everything up and turn everything on? Is there some step or sequence of steps that I must have failed to follow?

....."Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope."

Thanks!
Jason

Icecreamslick--Just checked my KT. Here's some information about matching the wires of the DMD and the gearboxes.

Right Gearbox--yellow motor wire to purple DMD wire; green motor wire to white DMD wire.
Left Gearbox--yellow motor wire to blue DMD wire; green motor wire to orange DMD wire.

Are you using one battery to power both the MF and DMD units? Is the communication wire (DMD to MF) firmly attached?

Hope ya get it debugged[:@]

Here's some info about connecting the DMD's four channel wires to your receiver. I have a futaba radio.

DMD channel 4 to receiver channel 1
DMD channel 3 to receiver channel 2
DMD channel 2 to receiver channel 3
DMD channel 1 to receiver channel 4

Hope it helps.

YES, just one battery. []

I checked all of the wires and mine are just as you described......still nothing. [&o]

Not sure if this will help, but in the manual, it says to push the set button. The light will flash green, red, then orange. Steer the left stick up, then down and it will flash red, orange then green. Do the same thing with each stick/channel(right stick - right to left, right stick - up to down, left stick - right to left) and after the last channel, it will alternate flash green. Then push the set button. It should flash green.

Icecreamslick--Assuming everything is charged and turned on and plugged, the DMD and MF unit can find the cause of the problem itself.

This is directly from the user's manual:

" . . . switch off the transmitter and T-03. Do not disconnect battery. Turn on SW3 switch of MF-01 (slide it to right). All units start checking themselves (make sure that each unit works in order). If there is no problem with MF-01, operation indicator of MF-01 flashes green to red alternately during this sequence. If indicator does not shine or any of the unit does not move, seek repair. DMD Control Unit T-03 can check itself separately from MF-01. In this case, switch off transmitter and T-03. Then, disconnect communication cable of MF-01. Turn on transmitter and T-03. Operate transmitter and check main gun elevation and turret rotation movement."

This segment is about Reinitializing DMD control Unit T-03

"If there is trouble with your system, T-03 can be re-initialized to the preset condition. First, switch off T-03, then push and hold down setting button. While pushing setting button, switch on T-03 and wait for 20 seconds. Indicator shines orange or green when reinitializing is completed."

Good luck!

That got it! It is working great, now. [sm=thumbup.gif] Thank you so much for the extra effort, Sownare! You really save me from a long, frustrating night. [:-]

Whew!

I really don't know for sure. [] I just went through these steps given to me by Sownare and tried it again:

"If there is trouble with your system, T-03 can be re-initialized to the preset condition. First, switch off T-03, then push and hold down setting button. While pushing setting button, switch on T-03 and wait for 20 seconds. Indicator shines orange or green when reinitializing is completed."
It is strange to hear the sounds of the turret turning and machine gun firing, when I have no turret or machine gun. I need to put a machine gun on this thing, somewhere.
