RE: hl so called 1/16 pz3
I can't tell from the pics. Is it going to have the small bogies? Or larger ones? I imagine the suspension was there easy way to do it? (The susp is wrong for the style of tank from what I gather?)
Either way I love what they have done with the shell.

The production tanks had three sets of double bogies a bit like a sherman in layout but this seems to have 6 separate arms which was more like the prototype. Also bolt on armour on front was usually on later versions like the Ausf L and K but this would be easy to sort unlike the suspension.
Cheers

It looks like they stuck Walker Bulldog tracks to the front if it.

Looks like a passable "L" rendition to me. Since I am not interested in the bb gun, I would be tempted to replace the barrel and make a late "j" variant of the DAK. Can't wait.

The man is right...
I have to agree, it sure does look like this beast has individual suspension arms... but I have to disagree on the tracks. Look at page 5, and you'll see the cleat is much different, and track is very narrow. Then again, the M41's track should have been narrow too.
For HL's 'close enough', I guess it'll do... gotta admit, the upper hull looks good. Wonder if they used this one as their model?

suspension arms when the springs will be loaded ,they will face the other direction.
my pzIII-L model have suspensions swingarms(arms) and 1 shock absorber on the first and last roadwheels swingarms .
the tank comes with small double roadwheels .
look at the 2 spots on top- hull(vetical tubes) and height ,for the spare wheels ,
small wheels and double stacked will fit there.

RE: hl so called 1/16 pz3
have re-phrased it , does it look better?
(forums: english-french -germand) sometimes i dont remember anymore the good way to write it [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
i mean that their is 12 swimgarms on a pzIII-L (6 each side)
that the r.wheels are mounted on.
that suspension looks o.k. to me ? did i miss a point about that susp. in previous posts?

Okay, Tom, you seem quite quiet since your ruffled all of their feathers with your first post. You normally post on anything and everything much less DIRECT questions so, what are you up to on this? Is this something you have modified from something else or perhaps pulling a little joke here. It certainly has the gray out of the HL box look to it, but maybe that is what you want people to think? Fess up - answer the questions they have been asking.

Noted.
Not afraid to admit I was wrong and a bit hasty in my estimation of the tracks. They look accurate for the Pz III based on my research--just didn't think anyone would notice/correct me...
Otherwise, I'm too absorbed with the upcoming release of this new tank anyway.

I'm going to have to disagree with that. They look fairly accurate for Pz. III/IV tracks to me.

RE: hl so called 1/16 pz3
In regard to the size issues. Heng Long's first non-copied, fresh from the drawing board tank, the M41, was supposed to be somewhat smaller than the Pershing, Tiger, etc. but it did not end up that way. This new PzKpfw III is also supposed to be smaller (since it is a medium tank)...
So, noting that HL uses the same components throughout their tank series (gearboxes, electronic boards, speakers, smoke units, various elevate/traverse mechanisms. etc.), would it be logical to assume that down sizing a tank using the same components raises serious challenges with regard to making them all fit within a smaller hull with reduced internal dimensions?
I'm not saying that HL has limitations in regard to their manufacturing and R&D but perhaps asking for an accurately scaled RC tank is a bit too much. Maybe their chief concern is in making the tank work with what they've got (without having to alter their internal components) than making it a masterpiece in scale.

Just say it ain't the same size as their "Snow Leopard" or "PanTiger". But only if it's true . . ..
