Default A good start??

Ok guys, some good news and some bad news.... well maybe bad news, we'll see. If you all haven't noticed yet there are two new links listed under the RC Tanks forum. One is a direct link to the RC Tanks Gallery and the other one is a direct link to Tanks in the RCU Marketplace. These are the first actions to help sub-divide the RC Tanks forums. Many of you mentioned that these two areas were difficult to find on RCU, so Marc and Nathan have added these two links to hopefully make these easier to find. So I guess this is the good news.

Now for the bad news, a little bit at least. I presented Marc and Nathan with the sub-forum list they was developed and they have some concerns about it. There concerns is that there isn't enough current traffic to justify splitting up the forum that much. There fears are that if we split it up that far then there will be sub-forums with little or no traffic, which will hurt RC Tanks in the overall scheme of things. It will hurt because sub-forums with little or no traffic turns people off at times. Now don't get me wrong, they aren't saying that there will NEVER be sub-forums. They just want to grow into them. This is pretty much along the lines that I mentioned as the discussion was ongoing about having too many sub-forums, I just didn't expect them to cut back even further than we already did. Anyway, Marc and Nathan have offered up the following compromise. We add 2 sub-forums for right now. Those two will be:

RC Tanks - All discussions about any RC Tank goes on here in this forum.

War Room - Discussions about everything else goes on here. Historical discussions, battles, battle grounds, etc.....

After they have some time to see how well the traffic goes in these two they will be more than happy expand to more sub-forums as the traffic will support it. On this one I'm going to have to trust Marc and Nathan's instincts, they have been running RC based web-sites for a long time and they are pretty good at taking something like this and helping it to grow. So what I'm saying is will everybody support these 2 initial forums?? I know what everybody ultimately wants, but we're going to have to work our way to towards that goal.

So anyway, can I get some "yeah's" from the crowd out there.

Thanks in advance.

Ken

I can certainly live with that. [sm=thumbup.gif] We seem to have lost most of our hotheads and now the forum is getting kind of stagnate. Maybe we need to start some drama, so people will tune in more often. That's what reality TV is all about; false drama to draw in the suckers and get ratings, which is basically what you mean by traffic, right? Ratings. The number of people and posts need to increase before we can expand or divide.

I was being sarcastic, but I really understand and agree with the decision. The forum is getting kind of, dare I say it.....boring and uneventful lately.

Maybe I just need some battle time behind the controller to get my spirits back up! Where is Nemesis4u and his junky old King Tiger, anyway?!! I need to shoot a panzy tank....oh I mean panzer. [sm=47_47.gif]

Thanks for all of your help, Ken!

Beats no changes, and still allows movement/modification in almost any direction.

Think the hotlink to the sales area was a rather good idea. Mebbe we'll see tanks go there before they show on eBay, seeing as RCU listings are FREE guys.

Hope to see the peace continue, and the popularity grow.

I'd have to agree with Marc and Nathan. I don't see the need for further division of posts. As a HL owner I like to read the posts by the Tamiya and other owners out there, many of them are HL owners as well. Too divy up the topics would divide the group, there just aren't that many posts to support it. This isn't the rc-panzerketten-forum, they have a need for the organization because of the volume of posts. Adding a gallery and marketplace is great!

I think that an RC tank is an RC tank in that they are nearly all electric powered and mostly do the same things. Separate forums for different brands will just divide us all. Besides, I am interested in all of the various brands and feel that we all have something to learn from those that own brands and makes other then our own. Single brand forums can also be very boring.

We appreciate your efforts Ken, It's a go from my side. @ 'icecreamslick, I think the "Panzy tanks" outnumber the allies, like 2 to 1!?
