HELP ON CAMOUFLAGE PAINTING
Hey Guy's
Can anyone give me a site on painting two different colour's of camouflage on my Tiger.
I know it's pretty hard to get a clean edge useing an airbrush.
Yet in alot of the pic's I see a nice crisp line full of curves seems to do the trick.
Are stensiles being cut out of paper and used to get these clean lines?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Dave

RE: HELP ON CAMOUFLAGE PAINTING
You should always remember that the camo on real miltary vehicles dont always have super crisp lines. they kind if blend together. here is a pic of my Tamiya Leopard 2a6. This was the first camo I ever painted. I penciled in the design and used Tamiya paints in a single stage Badger air brush.

Hi
You can use silly putty or Blu-Tak or such like to mask round akward bits. I did a post a while back on this if you search through some of the older threads.
Cheers

Hey Sneff looks real nice .I have a single stg. Badger as well.
What kind of setting on your nozzle, was it just barely open and how far away from the tank did you shoot your paint?
I like the idea of the pencil, gives kind of a pre planed attack.
What's your mix ratio.
I think I am putting to much thinner in my work.
Thanks Dave

RE: HELP ON CAMOUFLAGE PAINTING
I just used Tamiya nato black, green, and brown atraight out of the bottle and the medium tip in the airbrush. I had the nozzle just barely open and it took some time to fill in each area but I think it came out pretty decent for a first attempt. I probably had the airbrush 2" away from what I was painting so I could keep the lines as neat as I could.
Tamiya includes a big color fold out of the a2 from every angle so I just copied the design and used details on the model as reference points .

RE: HELP ON CAMOUFLAGE PAINTING
Hallo Dave,
I do absolutly agree with sneff, that - especially on a Tiger I - super crisp lines are not scale ... the camouflage was painted in the field - mostly done with an airbrush - the winter camo was mostly done with a big brush ... done very "acerb" ...
The Tiger II were partially done at the factory with stencils - but there were also a lot done in the field ...
The numbers were done with stencils and after that painted around by hand with a brush ...
Take also a look into the History Area of this forum - there are a lot of helpfull pictures !
Greetings

RE: HELP ON CAMOUFLAGE PAINTING
THANK'S STERN for the comeback,
This will be for a Tamiya KT If I can get the wife to agree.
I have successfully weathered 4 HL'S and am quite happy with the results.
But with the high price of this puppy I want all the help I can get.
Have a Merry Xmas Guy's one and all.
Dave
