RE: Tanks
We have four HLs. I guess my fave is the Tiger, it just has so much history, and it is such a handsome tank too. I like my old beaten up Pershing but it doesnt look as nobel as the Tiger 1. panther is...odd looking and innacurate but it has a nice snow job on it. The Bulldog, HLs best yet but it doesnt have the something the Tiger has....
yup..tiger 1 fir me.
However the panzer III is coming and it is lso a fine looking tank, I will be getting one asap and working my weathering hands on it. mmm, Polish invasion?

RE: Tanks
If this is a Heng Long favorite tank thread, then my apologies.
But my current favorite tank is the T-72. I find myself looking at all the variants and different countries of origin. Wish they made one in 1/16, either Tamiya or HL.
I tend to like tanks that have been in service for a long time and morph through various upgrades and modifications. The T-72 is an example of such. Low, sleek and looks like a sportscar.

RE: Tanks
I've always liked the M10/M36 tank destroyers. Would love someone to do a 1:16 one, though the open topped turret might present a bit of a problem with all the electronics on show!! Would also love a 1:16 M18 Hellcat, especially if it had authentic scale speed! As for actual R/C tanks, I'm hoping my HL Pershing will be my favourite, though it's stuck in its box until the 25th!!!

Hi Turbobearcat
The Stug III was built on the Panzer III chassis ( i'm hoping to convert the Hen Long when i get one ) The Stug IV was based on the Panzer IV chassis
Cheers Ian

RE: Tanks
I have alot of favorites for different aspects of them. But right now the Leopard2 is my favorite. If you go back to the 40s and study german armor development you can almost see an evolution from panther to Leopard2.

RE: Tanks
Unusual vehicle...
Thats the Swedish Stridsvagn Strv 103. Some could be disputed its being an actual 'tank' due to the lack of turret, but apparently the performance tests held up to a Leopard 1, Chieftain, and M60A1E3 (it was never tested against a T72, its most probable opponent - it never saw conflict at all.) It even had a second rear-facing driver to 'get the heck outa there' as fast as it went in!
The odd thing is that the gun has NO elevation/depression or traverse at all, and the whole unit has to adjust the suspension and literally wiggle its *ss end to aim! This was so cute that someone used this as the base for a Sci-Fi AI-controlled version in the Warbots series.
