I've just ordered a 1/16 Heng Long Bulldog, but sadly, it won't be opened until the 25th!

Soldering Iron will be heated up ready for any mishaps on Christmas morning! I'm used to soldering, repairing and some fabricating, mainly with Rc cars/trucks, from 1/64th scale up to 1/10, so I shouldn't have too much trouble, have been reading the boards for quite a while now, and finally decided on a tank. Not being able to afford a Tamiya I opted for the next best thing, related to budget, I bought two of the 1/72nd ? micro tanks from HL, and was very impressed, I just can't wait to get this baby moving! Has anybody used 540 size motors in these ? The Integy 55T Lathe motors would have some insane climbing power.
Thanks for the welcome, I'll be reading up, and don't worry, until my tank is weathered and detailed, you won't have to see the pics!

I think 540s would blow the stock electronics, too many amps. They wouldn't fit the stock gearboxes either, but you could be first and make something from scratch!

A 540 my not blow the electronics if you go with a 75 turn or a 65 turn intigy lathe motor that's what i run in all my trail runners and rock crawlers they are very low RPM but have gobs of tork and draw very low current!

& Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the welcome.

Pantiger man - Yea, New Zealand, that country near Australia.....

Shenlonco - Thanks for the advice, I ran a lathe motor before, on a TLT rig with a steal trans and a tube frame, very good motors, also ran one in my Tamiya XC for a while too. That's what gave me the thought, the Integy motors draw very little amps, I'll do some research

Thanks Plastic,

I've kind of got my heart set on a Wireless Camera, it's only black+white, with no sound, but it would be great to tank around in the garden from the comfort of my armchair, let alone hiding in the bushes and BB'ing things.

Specs : Weight: 50g Dimension: 25mm X 35mm X 15mm Colour: Black&White.

[8D]

Runs off a 9v battery, so will fit snugly inside the tank, I'd like to mount it on the side/top of the gun, therefore I can pan/tilt the camera, not to mention aim!

Regards,
Joe

The stock HL electronics can handle those Integy Lathe motors?

James i don't know i never used one in my tanks but i run them in my trail runner and rock crawler trucks they don't draw much and a 3300 batt lastes for houres in the trucks!

Search for 75 turn lathe motor on e-bay this is the one that will draw the least current... they also have 65 turn and 55 turns.

one thing is the motor can is mutch bigger and so is it's shaft so you will have to some how mod the motor mount to fit the 540 size can and also find a pinion gear to fit it's shaft also.

Hi all, thanks for the welcomes.

No, I didn't pay $218 for the camera, thank god!

I payed approx $65usd shipped, not too bad things are quite expensive in new zealand.
Example, the HL Tank cost me $100usd, instead of 80, but it's not too bad, some things are outrageous prices.
