Fun in the Snow
Since i live up in Canada, there is snow here! Friend of mine has a Bulldog, and I have a Pershing. the bulldog just climbs through snow like crazy!! its almost like a miracle! My perishing on the hand is ok in snow, but I keep having the trouble of the front top wheels getting packed snow on the inner wheel, causing the wiggle as the tank goes. anyone know a way to prevent this from happening? also both tanks are completely stock 1:16th scale. Also also, has anyone tried out the Russian or the German ones in snow?
And imo, the bulldog seems to out maneuver the perishing unless its a hill climb on a flat surface or if your on ice. Seems the bulldog hasn't got the down force or the right tread to ground contact area that the perishing dose. so, what dose the others have for +/='s ?
also pic of my tank the day i got it.

we got 4" last night... and its fell down straight and slow, so the snow is all loose. sounds good, but in my perishing, it jams between the "duals" and then the track tryings to skip off.
i want to have fun >.<

RE: Fun in the Snow
well i tried to go out again for some snow pics, but the treads were 1/2 way to blame. I let it sit outside for a few minutes to cool off. well tried the snow, was seeming to work, then the tread wheels and some sections of track iced up. fun. so back to the drawing board.
i still dont know why mine gets clogged so easy.
on a second note, since buddy has a bulldog, whats a good item to use as a scale sized tow rope? thinking we could make this a bit more realistic then the "crew gets out and pushes"

The_Stuff:
Try either Pam synthetic cooking spray or ArmorAll, and do both the roadwheels and the track. I say synthetic, cause if you use a natural oil, it may go rancid, and stink up your tank. That or your pets may be attracted, and start licking your tank clean!
We offroad racers used to use ArmorAll spray on our car and truck treads so that mud would not congeal on them. Had to run the track damp cause if it was dru, the fine grit tended to eat up drive-shafts, gears and even bearings.
The other thing is to leave the tank (without battery) on the doorstep or in the garage for 5-10 minutes to let it cool off. The recently warm tank tracks and wheels are melting the snow, and then as the track cools, re-solidifying. The Pam or ArmorAll becomes a lubricant, hopefully preventing the wet from freezing back on the tracks. Its not a guaranteed fix, but it should help some unless you're running in ~really~ damp snow.
I'm up in Ottawa, and we've barely been dusted so far. It may hurt the Rideau Canal really bad if it doesn't stay down under zero for a while to freeze the water. Worlds Longest Slush Puddle? Nah...

RE: Fun in the Snow
i tried the sitting out side part so now i will try that trick. I just hope i have something that will work.
anyone try snow and metal tracks before? I would think that mud/snow etc would rust up the tracks...

RE: Fun in the Snow
We had 28 inches last week here in the Colorado mountains and another 2 feet of snow the past several days.
Here's the 1/8 KT plying its way through the earlier snow fall.
The metal tracks are aluminum, so they won't rust. Even so, I applied brown Rustoleum for looks.
Cheers....

RE: Fun in the Snow
i just sprayed it down with silicone lubricant and hope that dose the trick. i know nothing sticks to that crap. its also sitting outside cooling down now. I noticed a couple things though. one of the track wheels up top actually has a chunk missing out of it! i cant tell if its factory or from that ice crap. also noticed a couple of wheels don't run straight and have some wobble to them... mabey its time for an upgrade already :P

RE: Fun in the Snow
ok! the silicone spray worked! mabey not perfect, but not once did the snow pack between wheels and the track. here is some pics!~
Nice close up of trail blazing
haha, kind of went over the peak before i could snap the shot. it was hard to get it up there, treads kept digging down when on the incline
and it successfully descended the fast way unscathed
More trailblazing across a 3ft snow drift
End of the line. the battery finnally ko'd from constant driving. good ol stock parts.

RE: Fun in the Snow
lol i did a nose dive thru a snow drift yesterday... now my barrel i plugged .... how do i clean it out?
got the barrel unplugged. left it sitting on an angle with the turret facing down and it unplugged.
snow is melting today and it was fun yet battery draining. the snow was hard to go through and used alot of battery!
