Well it is interesting cause its an abrams and there dosnt seem to be very many 1/16 scale ones that are not a 700+ dollar tamiya brand. if this is your first tank, it would be ok. no clue what brand that is.

The desert camo one looks nice, but I can't seem to find it in the states. Anybody have a source in either the US or Canada?

I would not get it. It has no suspension and runs off rubber band style tracks. It will not last very long and the last time i checked the 1000+ dollar aluminum lower hull, suspension and metal tracks are out of production.

That's strange because the 1:16 Leopard 2A5 from the same manufacturer has suspension.

The Abrams was the first in line...........in some of the german forums, most of them have been modified using the leopard (tamiya) chassis and gearboxes. My son bought one, way to fast, no suspension, tracks are worthless. He says the only good thing is that the detail is somewhat OK.

Hoakey controller
jerky control
rubber-band type tracks
no suspension
toy like machine gun/commander with side to side movement.......jeez[&:]

More of a toy than a scale hobby tank........hence....was given to a 5 yeard old......he liked it though!

Not the same lower hull. The one i was talking about was ALL aluminum. The one you linked to is newer and a better deal in my book.

Not really, the AFV lower hull was designed for the Hobby Engine Abrams and its been around for about six months, before that there was another Abrams lower hull for the Kyosho/Hobby Engine Abrams but that company no longer makes that product, here is a video from tomsrctanks http://www.tomsrctanks.com/M1A1.asp showing that M1 using the earlier lower hull, along with some other mods that Tom made to the tank.

I have the Hobby Engine 1/16 Leopard 2A5, and it's a decent looking tank. It's big compared to the HL 1/16 Tiger I. I will fix the control by giving it a proportional ESC. Now if only I can find either plastic tracks or metal tracks for it, then I'm all set.
