Do all the HL s/s tanks have the recoil action?
Is it automatic when you fire the BB gun?
I assume it just uses the tracks to jolt the tank back?
I assume if I get a upgrade board this will be included?

The recoil is basically a track (motor) 'jolt' yes.
It does NOT occur when the BB gun fires, but it may be possible to activate both at the same time ( never tried it).
Yes it would be available if you upgrade to S+S

Thanks for the reply.
To be honest I was worried that it occured when the gun was fired as obviously this would look wrong if the gun was firing broadside.
So would I be correct in thinking it is activated by one of the buttons and therefore if you do not like the recoil action it need not be used?
Does it occur in accordance with any sounds?
Sorry if this has been asked before I could not see any refs. to it.

The recoil button is the 'k' on the transmitter.
Upon pushing it, NO BB is shot, instead the tank makes a sudden movement backwards and then forward again (using the tracks to do it) and a 'firing' sound is played.
When you actually shoot the BB pushing the left lever forward, no sound is played, nor any movement is made by the tank.
So the answer is: yes, you can totally forget the 'simulated shot with recoil' function, especially since it is not realistic, and the firing sound not so cool. Personally I never use it.

Put me down for that too.. it's a horrible effect! If we could isolate the sound to play with the BB firing , that would be cool.

has anyone installed or used the recoil mechanisms being sold? The price alone chased me away, but on the other hand, to get away from the "earthquake" simulation that HL put into these things...may be worth the cost. I saw a video someone put on the site of a Pz IV using the device, and it just looked so much better.

Has anyone tried to isolate the part on the board? That way we could eliminate the jerk. If a real tank did that, the crew would be throw against everything inside and suffer from broken limbs/heads. I know what it's like to smash your head into the hatch when buttoned up.

Unfortunately the button signal is processed from the main chip, causing it to control both the speaker and the motors. There is no simple way to isolate the firing sound alone, which could have been amusing to synchronize with the BB firing function.
Lack of documentation about main chip, sound samples and sound card doesn't help.
