OK, I am at the end of the rope trying to setup my SS TX.

I am working on my Tamiya KT. I have put most of it together to make sure
all works properly, so I then can tear it all apart for paint.

I have installed the MF-01 and T-03 units. installed all per instructions. I also have
read all that I have found on other tank forums about the DX6 setups.

I go thru the procedure to setup the TX per the Tamiya instructions. once done, the lights
flash green, and I feel its all good. I then start to work the controls, and all is haywire?

the left stick does not move the tank (fore and aft) it does move the turret left/right.

the right stick does move the cannon up/down, and the recoil and machine gun all works.

I move the right stick left and right, and the tank goes forward and reverse?

I have checked, re-checked, re-checked etc etc. for the past 2 evenings. have searched high and
low to see what I may have done wrong? all the wires as per how the connect go to the right places?

so.............what am I doing wrong? I hope I covered all that I did. if not let me know what I
am missing.

I have never had this much problem in the 7 years of building giant scale warbirds. I know its
probably something simple I am overlooking (I hope)?

It took me some time as well to get my DX6 working correctly. I dont have my notes at the office I will post when I get home this evening.

I also received a PM from another member here about the setup.

one thing I didnt do in my "search" was search for "DX6". I just did and
found I think all the info I need. I had been searching for "Spektrum"[:@]

I have three F/O tanks running on Specktrum radio so trust me I can feel your pain. [sm=71_71.gif] Also, I am the author of the Specktrum for Dummies guide on the DAK web-site so let me know if you have any questions.

It sounds to me like you might have two of the channels plugged into the Rx incorrectly. The channels in the DX6 receiver are laid out like a JR not a Futaba (for us old airplane guys).

DMD channel 1 Rudder = RX channel 2 Aileron
DMD channel 2 Throttle = RX channel 1 Throttle
DMD channel 3 M Gun = RX channel 3 Elevator
DMD channel 4 Turret = RX channel 4 Rudder

In order to get the lights on the DMD to change when turning you need to give it throttle first.

Doug, after my readings today, I think I do have some crossed
wires. I will be checking this all out this evening after work.

after using Futaba for years on my planes, I am all screwed up now

like the firing order for a Ford engine is different than a Chevy[8D]

I just ordered a DX6 for my FO Sherman, no clue what I am doing so this was a timely post

just be sure to get the BR6000 receiver.

I have done the sleep mod on my DX6 and am using on a Tam Pershing and T1. I purchased a rc relay from Dimension engineering, and a 12" servo extension cable and installed according to the instructions posted on SCAT's website. Works right first time. My gear switch is now my sleep switch. Sleep is just like when you turn a tx off. You get the same shutdown sounds. Turn the sleep switch back, and you get a start up. Very happy.

I know this works with the older electronics, but anyone who has a Leo will understand the electronic configuration is totally different and may not have the same 'sleep' trigger.

I need to know before clipping any wires!

That's why you are clipping the Servo Extension Cable NOT the DMD wires. If it doesn't work on one channel, just unplug and move to the next. If it doesn't work at all, then you only 'destroyed' a $3 dollar cable. Steve was concerned about this when he was working on the modification. That is why he didn't cut any of the DMD cables.

I received my Spektrum today but it didn't come with a receiver battery, I hate that crap, what kinda batteries is everyone using? Anyone using a BEC and using the 7.2v main battery?

What are you using it in? More than likely you don't need a seperate Rx battery. HL and Tam have the BEC built in.

Tamiya Sherman, I havent looked close at the electronics end, I have been finishing the model part, so your saying the Tam electronics will power this rx?

I have dug
but I have yet to see mention of plugging something into the rx batt plug, which means I am missing something, I have looked a the mapping of all the connectors from the Tam electronics and see nothing like a power plug to the rx. Does it go by another name in tamiya land?

I plugged mine in per the tank instructions and works great...My guess is it has a built in BEC in the DMD?...

Here is scan of the Tamiya Directions. This particular version is if you have a 2 channel radio.

Power is supplied by the Main Battery to the Tamiya electronics, then fed out by the servos plugs to the Rx. It is a little weird for those of us used to having to plug the Rx into a battery pack, but no different than my electric RC cars.

I think Ksoc nailed it, I am from the old school where you plug the rx into a battery, even the old bec's needed you to put a plug in the rx batt plug. I will try it as per instructions.

In my sherman manual, the top of page 14 covers not using a RX battery, and page 7 states that the DMD powers the RX.

The problem turned out to be the rx not bound to the tx even though the manual said it was bound at the factory, now its all good
