One or more transmitters?
#3
I have one for all my tanks. Easier to buy batteries that way. Plus I modded it with a fire button instead of the gimbal for my gun safety. I have a couple more in dry dock in case a friend comes over to drive one at the same time. Easy enough to swap crystals. Just ordered 5 #3 crystals from Mato.

I'm using Spektrum Dx6. I started out thinking one would work for all (which is true technologically), but found I needed more for tankless buddies who visit. It's working out to be one for each tank.
Must suck to be a tankless buddy...

I'm still not sure. My sister has a nice back yard and my brother in law would would get a kick out of it. Going with separates may be a wise choice for me. But, I like the security and small antenna of the spektrum.

I use different transmitters...
I one Futaba 4VF and one 6YG, and have a buddy box for 'training sessions' on the 4VF. Two R127DF Rx's and one GWS unit, with hopefully a few more to come.
On a slight side note: Where'd you get your gunfire switches?
The local push-buttom momentaries are somplete crap, plastic guts that when bumped, disintegrate. I've wasted $20 so far on these same ones by different suppliers, and if I have to, will buy Futaba trainer springloads at ~whatever~ prices.
Anyone?

If your talking about a HL transmitter I just used a SPST momentary contact switch from radio shack. Mounted towards the top center of my transmitter. Plenty of places sell them for about $2. Mouser, Jameco, Newark, etc....

The ones that are one red and one black per packet? They are the crap ones: bump 'em once hard, the button snaps off. I got a few I'm pulling before they bust... and a pair that are already scrapped.
Guess its a beg to Futaba then... *sigh*

Yes, those are the ones I use. Never had a problem with them after years. Appearantly you drive your TX harder than I drive my tanks
But, if you want to get hardcore, go to the elect suppliers, Newark is good. I have bought mil spec push buttons for work that are very heavy duty. Try SK, good stuff but expensive but it sounds like you won't flinch at $10 for a switch.

Perry,
As to your question re the DX6 compatability with Heng Long, I don't know. I'm using on Tamiya only. I replaced a Futaba 6YG and another Futaba (a 4...something). They both used crystals. I scrapped them (they now reside in my junk box) for the DX6's.

Wolf, Wolf, Wolf,
You are NOT supposed to drive over the trainee's xmitr when he (or she) makes a bumb move. That is NOT good teaching style! It not only does not instill the correct move, it makes it difficult fot them to control thier thumbs when learning new moves. The optimum correction is to take over control of the track and shoot the trainee with the main gun.
