Panzer III Upgrade Help!
#1
So I put my Tiger on the back burner as my enthusiasm for my new apartment and garage took over. I built myself a complete hobby zone in the garage and now I'm champing at the bit to work on a new project. I browsed through the many Panzer projects on here, and on the german forums and need some help. I need some clarification on the different models of the Panzer III.
My goal is to build my Panzer III with a Tamiya battle unit and use this as my main battler. I'm saving my pennies to buy the impact winter tracks. So i would like to build an accurate tank that was equipped with these type tracks and alter my Panzer to replicate the correct model. So my real question is, what models fought on the eastern front against the russians, and what units.
Thus far I have opened the stowage bins on the side to accept mesh, re-run the egxuast to vent from the actual mufflers, moved the antenna, and am working on opening the turret doors.
Are these Ausf G,H,J,J1,L,M?
So... Any pictures or information on these guys would be great.

Pick up Squadron-Signal PzKpfw III in action, #2024. I will give you loads of info on all models. Pz III was the original work horse and all models were used on both fronts and with the DAK. Until Tigers were avaiklable in numbers, a tiger platoon consisted of 2 Tigers and 2 Pz III's, mostly L's. N's were relegated, like Stu III to infantry support and 100 Ms were converted to flame throwers.
You might want to check these units on the internet; 1, 2, 3, 5, 20, 21, 22, 24 Pz Div, 3 & 5 Pz Gren Div. These are only some of the many units in Russia, but ones I see in front of me in the book above. If you are doing a late model ausf l, sand off the side excape doors in the suspension.
hope this helps.
