Default smoke unit heating element..?

help..!! i now have 2 non working smoke units..[:@]..! both are broken across the heating element as the wire is very thin..?
is there something else i could use thats a little more sturdy..? obviously i dont want my tank to melt or go up in flames!! but they're too small for me to fix so i was wondering about an alternative? don't know anything about resistance or stuff but i can just about use a soldering iron so if anyone can help (in small words preferably..!) cheers..
p.s. would an element from a bulb work or a certain size wire..?[]
